కుమ్మరి పురుగు (ఆంగ్లం Carpenter bee) ఒక రకమైన ఈగ. ఇవి జైలొకోపినే (Xylocopinae) ఉపకుటుంబంలోని జైలొకోపా (Xylocopa) ప్రజాతికి చెందిన పెద్ద ఈగలు. ఇవి ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా విస్తరించాయి. వీనిలో సుమారు 500 జాతులున్నవి.[1] వీటన్నింటి యొక్క ప్రధానమైన లక్షణము కలప, వెదురు మొదలైన వాటికి బొరియలు (burrows) చేసి అందులో గూడు కట్టుకొని నివసించడం.
