పిస్టియా (Pistia) అరేసి (Araceae) కుటుంబంలో ఒక ప్రజాతికి చెందిన నీటి మొక్కలు. దీనిలోని ఒకే ఒక జాతి పిస్టియా స్ట్రేటియోట్స్ (Pistia stratiotes). దీనిని సామాన్యంగా నీటి కాబేజి (water cabbage, water lettuce, or Nile cabbage) అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు. ఇది ప్రపంచమంతా విస్తరించినా మొదటగా నైలు నది సమీపంలోని విక్టోరియా సరస్సులో గుర్తించారు. దీని ప్రజాతి పేరు Greek word πιστός (pistos), అనగా "నీరు" అని అర్ధం.[3]
