ఫారూఖ్ షేఖ్ : (فاروق شیخ )Farooq Sheikh or Farooque Sheikh (25 మార్చి 1948 − డిసెంబరు 2013) ఒక భారతీయ సినిమా నటుడు, విశాల హృదయుడు, టెలివిజన్ వ్యాఖ్యాత. 1977-1989 సం.ల మధ్య హిందీ సినిమాలలో తన సొంత నటన ముద్రను వేశాడు. మూస-సినిమాలకు ప్రక్కన పెట్టి కొత్త తరహా సినిమాలకు నాంది పలికాడు, విజయమూ సాధించాడు. ఇతను ప్రఖ్యాత దర్శకులైన సత్యజిత్ రే, ముజఫ్ఫర్ అలీ, హృషికేష్ ముఖర్జీ, కేతన్ మెహతా లాంటి వారితో కలసి పనిచేశాడు.[1]
He has acted in many serials and shows on television and performed on stage in famous productions such as Tumhari Amrita (1992), alongside Shabana Azmi, directed by Feroz Abbas Khan, and presented the TV show, Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai (Season 1).[2] He won the 2010 National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for Lahore.[3] He died on 27th December 2013 following a cardiac arrest.[4]

ముంబైకు చెందిన న్యాయవాది ముస్తఫా షేక్, ఫరీదా షేక్ ల ఐదు సంతానాలలో మొదటివాడు ఈ ఫారూక్ షేక్.[5] గుజరాత్ యొక్క బరోడా జిల్లాలోని అమ్రోలీలో జన్మించాడు. వీరి కుటుంబం జమీందారీ కుటుంబం. బాల్యం, పాలనా పోషణా, విద్యాభ్యాసాలు విలాసవంతంగా జరిగాయి.[6]
He went to St. Mary's School, Mumbai and then to St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. He studied law at Siddharth College of Law.[7]
Shaikh was married to Rupa Jain, whom he courted for nine years before tying the knot. The couple has two daughters: Shaista and Sanaa.
సినిమా జీవితం[మార్చు]
In his early days, he was active in theatre, doing plays with IPTA and with well-known directors like Sagar Sarhadi. His first major film role was in the 1973 film Garam Hawa where Farooq had a supporting role and leading man was Balraj Sahni. The film is credited for being a pioneer of a new wave of Hindi Art cinema.[8] He went on to act in several notable films such as Satyajit Ray's Shatranj Ke Khiladi (Chess Players) (1977), Noorie (1979), Chashme Buddoor (1981), Umrao Jaan, Bazaar, Saath Saath, Rang Birangi, Kissi Se Na Kehna (1983) and Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988). He formed a successful pair with Deepti Naval. He also did a slightly negative role in Katha, and in Yash Chopra's Faasle. However his films between 1985-1997 were not successful at the box office.
In the 1990s he acted in fewer films and made his last few film appearance in Saas Bahu Aur Sensex (2008) and Lahore (2009), for which he won the 2010 National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor. His last film as the leading man was Club 60 (2013). Realbollywood.com said on his performance in the film, "As a grieving father who won't allow his loss to be forgotten, he hits all the right notes treading that thin line between the melancholy and maudlin with majestic grace."[9]
In the late 90s, Farooq Sheikh acted in a number of television serials. Chamatkar on Sony and Ji Mantriji on Star plus are among the few. He also worked in a TV serial Shrikant which aired from 1985 to 1986. He compered in the Binny Double or Quits Quiz contest which was telecast over Vividh Bharathi. He also performed on stage in famous plays such as Tumhari Amrita directed by Feroz Abbas Khan, featuring Shabana Azmi.[10] The play was appreciated by audiences the world over for 12 years till 2004.[11] A sequel to this play was staged in India in 2004 titled "Aapki Soniya" with Farooq Sheikh and Sonali Bendre as main leads.[12] "Tumhari Amrita" completed its 20-year run on 26 Febraury, 2012[13] He directed Azhar Ka Khwab, an adaptation of Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion in 2004.[14]
He had been the host of the popular TV show Jeena issi ka naam hai in which he interviewed many Bollywood celebrities. His sense of humor and direct humble approach was the USP of the show.

ఫారూఖ్ షేఖ్ 27 డిసెంబరు 2013 న, దుబాయిలో గుండెపోటు వలన మరణించాడు. యితడు తన కుటుంబంతో దుబాయికి విహారయాత్రకు వెళ్ళాడు. ఇతడి అంతిమ క్రియలు, ముంబాయిలో 28 డిసెంబరు 2013 న జరుగుతాయి. .[4][15]
