సైంటాలజీ (Scientology) : ఈ పదానికి అర్థం సత్యాన్ని/ జ్ఞానాన్ని అధ్యయనం చేయడం. (The study of knowledge or truth.) అధ్యయనం అనే పదానికి బదులు శోధన అని కూడా అనవచ్చు. ఇరవయ్యవ శతాబ్దిలో పుట్టి వేగంగా విస్తరించిన మతాలలో ఇది ఒకటి. వ్యవస్థాపకుడి పేరు ఎల్‌ రాన్‌ హబ్బర్డ్‌. అమెరికాలో 1911లో జన్మించిన హబ్బర్డ్‌ నౌకా, వైమానిక దళాలలో పనిచేశాడు. సైన్స్‌ ఫిక్షన్‌ రచయితగా ప్రపంచ ప్రసిద్ధుడైనాడు. సైంటాలజీ ఇరవయ్యవ శతాబ్ది మతం. 1950లో ఆయన ప్రచురించిన డయనిటిక్స్‌ (Dianetics) గ్రంథం ఒక అర్థ శతాబ్ది కాలంలో రెండు కోట్లకు పైగా ప్రతులు అమ్ముడైంది. మనిషిలో శరీరమూ, మనస్సూ గాక శాశ్వతమైన, అమరమైన ఆత్మ ఒకటి ఉన్నదని ఈ మతం మౌలిక విశ్వాసం. ఒక మనిషి తనను తాను బాగు చేసుకొనడానికి ఈ మతం మార్గాలను సూచిస్తుంది. నిష్కారణంగా కలిగే భయాలనూ, వద్దనుకొన్న ఇంద్రియానుభూతులనూ, మనస్సు మూలంగా కలిగే అనారోగ్యాలనూ ఎలా తొలగించు కోవాలో ‘డయనిటిక్స్‌’ పుస్తకం నేర్పుతుందని సైంటాలజీ మత బోధకులు అంటారు.
