ఉత్తమ దర్శకత్వం కోసం జాతీయ చలనచిత్ర అవార్డు అనేది నేషనల్ ఫిల్మ్ డెవలప్మెంట్ కార్పొరేషన్ ఆఫ్ ఇండియా ఏటా అందించే జాతీయ చలనచిత్ర అవార్డులలో ఒకటి. నాన్-ఫీచర్ చిత్రాలకు ప్రదానం చేసిన అనేక అవార్డులలో ఇది ఒకటి & స్వర్ణ కమల్ (గోల్డెన్ లోటస్) తో ప్రదానం చేయబడింది.
ఈ అవార్డును 2000లో 48వ జాతీయ చలనచిత్ర పురస్కారాలలో ఏర్పాటు చేశారు, దేశవ్యాప్తంగా అన్ని భారతీయ భాషలలో సంవత్సరానికి నిర్మించిన చిత్రాలకు ఏటా ప్రదానం చేస్తారు.
