కేరళ నైరుతి భారతదేశంలోని ఒక రాష్ట్రం. కేరళలోని 33.4 మిలియన్ల జనాభాలో అత్యధికులు (2011 జనాభా లెక్కల ప్రకారం) జాతిపరంగా మలయాళీలు (మలయాళం మాట్లాడేవారు).[1] అరేబియా సముద్రం మీదుగా సహస్రాబ్దాల వాణిజ్య సంబంధాల వల్ల అదనపు పూర్వీకులు ఉద్భవించారు, తద్వారా అరబ్, యూదు, సిరియాక్, పోర్చుగీస్, ఆంగ్ల, చైనీస్, ఇతర జాతుల ప్రజలు కేరళలో స్థిరపడ్డారు. ఈ వలసదారులలో అనేకులు స్థానిక మలయాళం మాట్లాడేవారితో వివాహ సంబంధాలు ఏర్పరచుకున్నారు, దీని ఫలితంగా కేరళలో అనేక ముస్లిం, క్రైస్తవ సమూహాలు ఏర్పడ్డాయి.[2][3] కొంతమంది ముస్లింలు, క్రైస్తవులు స్థానిక జనాభాతో కలిసిన మధ్యప్రాచ్య, యూరోపియన్ స్థిరనివాసులకు తమ వంశాన్ని ఆపాదిస్తారు.

మలయాళం కేరళ అధికారిక భాష, దీనిని కనీసం 97% ప్రజలు మాట్లాడతారు; తదుపరి అత్యంత సాధారణ భాష ఆంగ్లం. తమిళం ప్రధానంగా తమిళనాడు సరిహద్దు జిల్లాల్లో, ముఖ్యంగా ఇడుక్కి, పాలక్కాడ్ ప్రాంతాల్లో మాట్లాడతారు. కాసరగోడ్ జిల్లా ఉత్తర భాగాలలో తుళు మాట్లాడతారు. అదనంగా, కేరళలో 321,000 మంది స్థానిక గిరిజన ఆదివాసీలు (జనాభాలో 1.10%) ఉన్నారు.[4] దాదాపు 63% గిరిజనులు తూర్పు జిల్లాలైన వయనాడ్ (ఇక్కడ 35.82% గిరిజనులు), పాలక్కాడ్ (1.02%), ఇడుక్కి (15.66%) లో నివసిస్తున్నారు.[5] పానియార్లు, మూప్పన్లు, ఇరులర్లు, కురుంబర్లు, ముడుగర్లతో సహా ఈ సమూహాలు తమ సొంత మాతృభాషలను మాట్లాడతాయి.[6][7][8][9] సైలెంట్ వ్యాలీ జాతీయ ఉద్యానవనంలోని చోళనాయక్కన్ గిరిజనులను 1970లలో మాత్రమే సంప్రదించారు, వారు రాష్ట్రంలో అత్యంత ఏకాంత గిరిజనులు.[10]

కేరళలో భారతదేశ జనాభాలో 2.76% మంది నివసిస్తున్నారు, ఇక్కడ సాంద్రత చ.కి.మీ.కు 859 మందిగా ఉంది;[12] ఈ ప్రాంతం మిగిలిన భారతదేశం కంటే మూడు రెట్లు ఎక్కువ జనసాంద్రత కలిగి ఉంది. కేరళ పశ్చిమ తీర ప్రాంతాలు చ.కి.మీ.కు 2,022 మంది జనాభాతో అత్యంత జనసాంద్రత కలిగి ఉన్నాయి, ఇది రాష్ట్ర మొత్తం జనాభా సాంద్రత అయిన చ.కి.మీ.కు 859 మంది కంటే 2.5 రెట్లు ఎక్కువ, తూర్పు కొండలు, పర్వత ప్రాంతాలు తక్కువ జనాభాను కలిగి ఉన్నాయి.[13] అయినప్పటికీ, కేరళ జనాభా వృద్ధి రేటు జాతీయ సగటు కంటే చాలా తక్కువగా ఉంది, కేరళ జనాభా 1951, 1991 మధ్య రెట్టింపు కంటే ఎక్కువ పెరిగింది – 1991 నాటికి 15.6 మిలియన్ల మంది పెరిగి మొత్తం 29.1 మిలియన్ల నివాసితులకు చేరుకుంది – 2001 నాటికి జనాభా 31.8 మిలియన్లు, 2011 నాటికి 33.3 మిలియన్లకు చేరుకుంది.[12] కేరళ ప్రజలు తీరప్రాంతంలో అత్యంత దట్టంగా స్థిరపడ్డారు, తూర్పు కొండలు, పర్వత ప్రాంతాలను తక్కువ జనాభాతో వదిలివేశారు.[మూలాలు అవసరం] భారతదేశంలో కేరళ రెండవ అత్యంత పట్టణీకరణ చెందిన ప్రధాన రాష్ట్రం, 2011 జనాభా లెక్కల ప్రకారం 47.7% పట్టణ జనాభాను కలిగి ఉంది.[14]

కేరళీయులలో ఎక్కువ మంది (54.7%) హిందూ మతాన్ని ఆచరిస్తున్నారు. కేరళలో అనుసరించే ప్రధాన మతాలు హిందూ మతం (54.7% — కేరళలో హిందూ మతం), ఇస్లాం (26.6%), క్రైస్తవ మతం (18.4%).[15]

కేరళలో ఇటీవల వరకు చిన్న యూదుల జనాభా కూడా ఉంది, క్రీ.పూ. 587లో జెరూసలెంను నెబుకద్నెజార్ ఆక్రమించినప్పుడు వారు పారిపోయి వచ్చారని చెబుతారు.[16] 2001 భారత జనాభా లెక్కల ప్రకారం కేరళలో కేవలం 51 మంది యూదులు మాత్రమే నమోదయ్యారు. కొచ్చిలోని పరదేశి సినాగోగ్ కామన్వెల్త్ దేశాలలో అతి పురాతనమైన సినాగోగ్.[17]

రాష్ట్రంలో అనేక ప్రసిద్ధ దేవాలయాలు, మసీదులు, చర్చిలు ఉన్నాయి. భారతదేశంలోని పురాతన చర్చి కేరళలో ఉంది, దీనిని యేసుక్రీస్తు శిష్యుడైన సెయింట్ థామస్ స్థాపించారని నమ్ముతారు, చేరమాన్ జుమా మసీదు భారత ఉపఖండంలో అత్యంత పురాతన మసీదుగా పరిగణించబడుతుంది, దీనిని ఇస్లామిక్ మిషనరీ మాలిక్ దీనార్ నిర్మించారు.[మూలాలు అవసరం]

కేరళలో అత్యధిక జనాభా కలిగిన జిల్లా మలప్పురంలో జనాభా పంపిణీ (2011).[19] రాష్ట్రంలోని ప్రతి భాగంలో పంపిణీ ఇదే నమూనాను పోలి ఉంటుంది. పశ్చిమ అరేబియా సముద్ర తీరం దట్టమైన జనాభాతో ఉండగా, పశ్చిమ కనుమలకు ఆనుకుని ఉన్న తూర్పు కొండ ప్రాంతం పశ్చిమ తీరంతో పోలిస్తే తక్కువ జనాభాను కలిగి ఉంది.[20]

సామాజిక అభివృద్ధి

పేదరిక నిర్మూలన, ప్రాథమిక విద్య, ఆరోగ్య సంరక్షణ వంటి సామాజిక అభివృద్ధి సూచికలకు సంబంధించి భారతదేశంలో కేరళ అగ్రస్థానంలో ఉంది. ప్రజలలో ఆరోగ్య సంరక్షణ, విద్యను పెంపొందించడానికి కొచ్చి, ట్రావెన్‌కోర్ సంస్థానాలు 1911లో ప్రారంభించిన ముఖ్యమైన ప్రయత్నాల ఫలితంగా ఇది సాధ్యమైంది. ఈ ప్రధాన దృష్టి - భారతదేశంలో అసాధారణమైనదిగా పరిగణించబడుతుంది - స్వాతంత్ర్యం తర్వాత కేరళ రాష్ట్రంగా అవతరించిన తరువాత కూడా నిర్వహించబడింది.[21] తద్వారా, భారతదేశంలో కేరళ అత్యధిక అక్షరాస్యత రేటు 93.91% (2011) కలిగి ఉంది;[22] ఆయుర్దాయం ఇప్పుడు భారతదేశంలో అత్యధికంగా ఉంది. కేరళలో ఆత్మహత్యల రేట్లు భారతదేశంలో అత్యధికంగా ఉన్నాయి.[23] 2011 జనాభా లెక్కల ప్రకారం, భారతదేశంలో కేరళ, పుదుచ్చేరి మాత్రమే 0.99 కంటే ఎక్కువ స్త్రీ-పురుష నిష్పత్తిని కలిగి ఉన్నాయి. కేరళ నిష్పత్తి 1.084 – 1000 మంది పురుషులకు 1084 మంది స్త్రీలు – కాగా జాతీయ గణాంకం 0.940.[24] సబ్-రీప్లేస్‌మెంట్ ఫెర్టిలిటీని కలిగి ఉన్న భారతదేశంలోని రాష్ట్రాలలో ఇది ఒకటి.[25]

వైవిధ్యం

కేరళలో 2,500,000 కంటే ఎక్కువ మంది వలసదారులు నివసిస్తున్నారు,[29] వీరు ప్రధానంగా అస్సాం, పశ్చిమ బెంగాల్ నుండి వచ్చినవారు, జనాభాలో వీరు 8% కంటే ఎక్కువ మంది ఉన్నారు. బీహార్, జార్ఖండ్, ఛత్తీస్‌గఢ్, ఒరిస్సా, ఈశాన్య రాష్ట్రాల నుండి కూడా వలస వచ్చినవారు ఉన్నారు.[30][29][31]

2026 రాష్ట్ర ఎన్నికల నాటికి, తిరువనంతపురం, కొల్లం, కొచ్చి, కోజికోడ్, త్రిస్సూర్, కన్నూర్ జిల్లాల్లోని అనేక నియోజకవర్గాల్లో వలసదారులు ఒక కీలకమైన ఓటింగ్ వర్గంగా మారతారని అధ్యయనాలు సూచిస్తున్నాయి.[32]

2011 భారత జనాభా లెక్కల ప్రకారం, కేరళలో 1.5 మిలియన్లకు పైగా జనాభా కలిగిన ఆరు పట్టణ సముదాయాలు ఉన్నాయి: కొచ్చి, కోజికోడ్, కొల్లం, కన్నూర్, తిరువనంతపురం, త్రిస్సూర్, వీటన్నింటిలో కనీసం 1.5 మిలియన్ల జనాభా ఉంది.[33][34][35] కేరళీయులలో మూడింట ఒక వంతు కంటే ఎక్కువ మంది ఈ పెద్ద నగరాల్లో నివసిస్తున్నారు (ఏ ఇతర రాష్ట్రం కంటే ఎక్కువ శాతం), సగానికి పైగా జనాభా పట్టణ కేంద్రాలలో నివసిస్తున్నారు.[36]

2011 జనాభా లెక్కల ప్రకారం, భారతదేశంలోని అత్యధిక జనాభా కలిగిన మొదటి 50 మెట్రోపాలిటన్ ప్రాంతాలలో 7 కేరళకు చెందినవి. అవి కొచ్చి, కోజికోడ్, కొల్లం, మలప్పురం, తిరువనంతపురం, కన్నూర్, త్రిస్సూర్ వరుసగా 17, 19, 21, 25, 26, 27, 48 ర్యాంకుల్లో ఉన్నాయి.[35][33]

కేరళ నివాసితులలో అత్యధికులు మలయాళీలు, కానీ తుళువాలు, తమిళులు, కన్నడిగులు, కొంకణిలు, వివిధ గిరిజనులతో సహా అనేక చిన్న జాతుల సమూహాలు ఉన్నాయి. అదనంగా, 2013 ప్రారంభం నాటికి కేరళలో భారతదేశంలోని ఇతర రాష్ట్రాల నుండి దాదాపు 2.5 మిలియన్ల (రాష్ట్ర జనాభాలో 7.5%) వలస కార్మికులు ఉన్నారు.[40]

2011 జనాభా లెక్కల ప్రకారం కేరళ జనాభాలో 54.7% హిందువులు, 26.6% జనాభాతో ఇస్లాం రెండవ స్థానంలో, 18.4% జనాభాతో క్రైస్తవ మతం మూడవ స్థానంలో ఉన్నాయి.

క్యాథలిక్ చర్చి (సైరో-మలబార్, లాటిన్, మలంకర) కేరళ క్రైస్తవులలో అతిపెద్ద డినామినేషన్, వీటిలో సైరో మలబార్ అతిపెద్దది. ఆర్థోడాక్స్, జాకోబైట్, మార్తోమా డినామినేషన్లు సిరియన్ మూలాలను కలిగి ఉన్నాయని చెబుతారు. ప్రధాన ప్రొటెస్టంట్ సమూహాలలో సిఎస్ఐ, వివిధ పెంటెకోస్టల్ చర్చిలు ఉన్నాయి. కల్డియన్ సిరియన్, సెవెంత్ డే అడ్వెంటిస్టులు, సాల్వేషన్ ఆర్మీ కొన్ని ఇతర డినామినేషన్లు.[56][57][58][59][60][61]

గిరిజన సంఘాలు

కేరళలో సుమారు 35 విభిన్న షెడ్యూల్డ్ తెగలు ఉన్నాయి, ఇవి జనాభాలో 1.3% ఉన్నాయి. పూర్తిగా ప్రత్యేకమైనవి అయినప్పటికీ, వారి భాషలు జనాభా లెక్కలలో తరచుగా విభిన్నంగా హైలైట్ చేయబడవు. సంఖ్యాపరంగా ఆధిపత్యం వహించే పానియన్ తెగ రాష్ట్రానికి ఈశాన్యంలో నివసిస్తుంది, స్థిరపడిన వ్యవసాయాన్ని ఆచరిస్తుంది. కట్టునాయకన్, కురిచియన్, కురుమన్ తెగలు అదే ప్రాంతానికి చెందినవి. పల్లెయన్, పల్లియన్, పల్లియార్ తెగలు తమిళనాడులోని అనమలై, పళని కొండలకు సమీపంలోని ఇడుక్కి ప్రాంతంలో నివసిస్తున్నారు, అక్కడ మీరు అదే జనాభాను కనుగొంటారు. కాదర్, ఇరులర్, కురుంబాలు, మహా మలసార్, మలసార్ తెగలు తమిళనాడులోని నీలగిరి, అనమలై కొండలలో ఉన్న వారి సహచరులకు సమీపంలోని పాల్ఘాట్ ప్రాంతంలో నివసిస్తున్నారు. కర్ణాటకలోని కొడగు, దక్షిణ కన్నడ ప్రాంతం పక్కన ఉన్న రాష్ట్రపు ఉత్తరాన నివసిస్తున్న కుడియ, కొరగ తెగల పరిస్థితి కూడా ఇదే.[62]

హిందువులకు, వయనాడ్‌లో (1.710) అత్యధిక TFR, తిరువనంతపురంలో (1.435) అత్యల్ప TFR ఉన్నాయి. ముస్లింలకు కన్నూర్ (2.779), పతనంతిట్ట (1.707), క్రైస్తవులకు కాసరగోడ్ (1.929), కొల్లం (1.539) జిల్లాలు ఈ వరుసలో ఉన్నాయి.[92]
