డాక్టర్ జతీందర్ కుమార్ బజాజ్ (జె. కె. బజాజ్) (జననం 21 మార్చి 1952, పంజాబ్, భారతదేశం) చెన్నైలోని సెంటర్ ఫర్ పాలసీ స్టడీస్ వ్యవస్థాపక డైరెక్టర్.[1] ఆయన ప్రస్తుతం భారత రాష్ట్రపతి చేత నియమించబడిన భారత రాజ్యాంగంలోని ఆర్టికల్ 340 కింద ఇతర వెనుకబడిన తరగతుల (OBC) ఉప-వర్గీకరణను పరిశీలించే కమిషన్ సభ్యునిగా పనిచేస్తున్నారు.[2] అలాగే ఇండియన్ కౌన్సిల్ ఆఫ్ సోషల్ సైన్స్ రీసెర్చ్ (ICSSR) అధ్యక్షుడిగా కూడా బాధ్యతలు నిర్వహిస్తున్నారు.[3] బజాజ్ గారు జనవరి 26, 2022న భారతదేశపు నాల్గవ అత్యున్నత పౌర పురస్కారమైన పద్మశ్రీని అందుకున్నారు.[4]

నేపథ్యం

పంజాబ్‌లోని శ్రీ ముక్త్సర్ సాహిబ్ జిల్లాలోని గిద్దర్‌బాహాలో మార్చి 21, 1952న జన్మించిన బజాజ్, గిద్దర్‌బాహాలోని ప్రభుత్వ ఉన్నత పాఠశాల, అమృత్‌సర్‌లోని డి.ఎ.వి (D.A.V.) కళాశాలలో ప్రాథమిక విద్యను అభ్యసించారు. ఆయన 1973లో ఎం.ఎస్సీ (ఆనర్స్), 1978లో చండీగఢ్‌లోని పంజాబ్ విశ్వవిద్యాలయం భౌతిక శాస్త్ర విభాగం నుండి పిహెచ్.డి (థియరిటికల్ ఫిజిక్స్) పట్టా పొందారు. తన పరిశోధనా కాలంలో, ఆయన కాన్పూర్, బాంబేలోని ఇండియన్ ఇన్‌స్టిట్యూట్ ఆఫ్ టెక్నాలజీ (IIT)లలో, మద్రాస్ విశ్వవిద్యాలయం, చెన్నైలోని థియరిటికల్ ఫిజిక్స్ విభాగంలో పనిచేశారు.

భౌతిక శాస్త్రంలో తన పరిశోధనా ప్రస్థానంలో, బజాజ్ బలహీనమైన పరస్పర చర్యలలో (weak interactions) వివిధ సంప్రదాయ సమరూపత భంగం (symmetry breaking) పథకాలలో బారియాన్‌ల నాన్-లెప్టోనిక్ క్షయాల ఫినోమెనాలజీపై విస్తృతమైన విశ్లేషణ చేశారు.[5] అలాగే గ్రాండ్-యూనిఫైడ్ గేజ్ సిద్ధాంతాలలో బలహీన మిక్సింగ్‌పై కూడా పనిచేశారు.[6]

భారతీయ ఆలోచనలు, సంస్థలతో లోతుగా మమేకం కావడానికి, భారతీయ దృక్కోణం నుండి భారతదేశాన్ని అర్థం చేసుకోవాలనే లక్ష్యంతో 1990లో బజాజ్ తన సహచరులతో కలిసి చెన్నైలో 'సెంటర్ ఫర్ పాలసీ స్టడీస్'ను స్థాపించారు.[7]
