ట్రింకెట్ ద్వీపం (కొన్నిసార్లు ట్రింకాట్ లేదా ట్రింకుట్ అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు) ఈశాన్య హిందూ మహాసముద్రంలో బంగాళాఖాతం, అండమాన్ సముద్రం మధ్య ఉన్న నికోబార్ దీవుల శ్రేణిని రూపొందించే 24 ద్వీపాలలో ఒకటి. ఇది కమోర్టా ద్వీపానికి తూర్పున ఉంది.

భౌగోళికం

ట్రింకెట్ 12.25 చ.కి.మీ విస్తీర్ణంతో చదునైన, లోతైన స్థలాకృతిని కలిగి ఉంది. ప్రాంతీయ రుతుపవనాలు ఏటా 3,000 మి.మీ నుండి 3,800 మి.మీ వరకు వర్షపాతాన్ని తెస్తాయి.[3]

ఈ ద్వీపం చుట్టూ నిస్సార జలాలు, పగడపు దిబ్బలు ఉన్నాయి,[4] ఇవి ఆటుపోట్ల సమయంలో మాత్రమే పడవ ద్వారా చేరుకోవడానికి వీలు కల్పిస్తాయి.[3]

పరిపాలనా వ్యవస్థ

1869 నుండి 1947 వరకు ట్రింకెట్ బ్రిటన్ భారత వలసరాజ్యాలలో భాగంగా ఉండేది. 1947లో ఇది భారత డొమినియన్‌లో, 1950 నుండి భారత రిపబ్లిక్‌లో భాగమైంది. ట్రింకెట్ నికోబార్ జిల్లా నాన్‌కౌరీ ఉపవిభాగంలోని కమోర్టా తహసీల్‌లో, అండమాన్ నికోబార్ దీవుల రాష్ట్రంలో భాగంగా ఉంది.

1956 నుండి భారత ప్రభుత్వం స్థానిక నికోబారీలకు ఒక ప్రత్యేక చట్టం 'అండమాన్ నికోబార్ ప్రొటెక్షన్ ఆఫ్ అబోరిజినల్ ట్రైబ్స్ రెగ్యులేషన్' ద్వారా రక్షణ కల్పించింది, ఇది ఈ దీవులలోకి ప్రవేశాన్ని నియంత్రిస్తుంది.[3]

జనాభా గణాంకాలు

ఈ ద్వీపంలో 1883, 1901లో బ్రిటిష్ పరిపాలన రెండు ప్రారంభ జనాభా గణనలను నిర్వహించింది. 1883 జనాభా లెక్కల ప్రకారం ఎనిమిది గ్రామాలలో 85 మంది నివసిస్తున్నట్లు తేలింది.[5] 1901 జనాభా లెక్కల ప్రకారం ఇద్దరు నాయకులు పాలించే నాలుగు నుండి ఆరు గ్రామాల మధ్య విస్తరించి ఉన్న 102 మంది జనాభా అంచనా వేయబడింది.[5]

2001 నాటికి, భారత జనాభా లెక్కల ప్రకారం ట్రింకెట్‌లోని నాలుగు గ్రామాలలో 436 మంది నివసిస్తున్నారు: ట్రింకెట్ (జనాభా 244), సేఫ్‌బాలు (జనాభా 127), తాపియాంగ్ (జనాభా 42), హాక్‌కుక్ (జనాభా 23).[6] నికోబార్ జిల్లాలోని ఇతర ద్వీపాల మాదిరిగానే, ట్రింకెట్ జనాభా దాదాపుగా జాతిపరమైన నికోబారీలే.[7]

2004 సునామీ విపత్తు తర్వాత ఈ ద్వీపం నిర్జనమైందని 2011 భారత జనాభా లెక్కలు సూచించినప్పటికీ,[8] 2012 చివరి నాటికి ట్రింకెట్ గ్రామం ఉన్న ప్రదేశంలో నివసిస్తున్న ఇద్దరు వ్యక్తులు తిరిగి రావడంతో ద్వీపం మళ్లీ జనాభాతో నిండినట్లు కనిపించింది.[9] 2020 నాటికి తిరిగి వచ్చిన వారి జనాభా మొత్తం ఏడు కుటుంబాలకు చేరుకుందని నివేదించబడింది.[10]

ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థ

పదిహేనవ శతాబ్దం నుండి పంతొమ్మిదవ శతాబ్దం వరకు, మిగిలిన నికోబార్ దీవుల మాదిరిగానే ట్రింకెట్‌తో వాణిజ్యం భారతీయ, అరబ్, యూరోపియన్ వ్యాపారుల నౌకాదళాల ఆధిపత్యంలో ఉండేది.[3]

2004 హిందూ మహాసముద్ర భూకంపానికి ముందు, ద్వీప ప్రజలు ఆహార పదార్థాలతో సహా అనేక వస్తువుల కోసం బయటి ప్రపంచంపై ఆధారపడి ఉండేవారు. 1950ల వరకు వారు కొబ్బరికాయలు, ఇతర అటవీ ఉత్పత్తులను ఎగుమతి చేసేవారు, కానీ 1950ల తర్వాత స్థానిక ఉత్పత్తి కొబ్బరిని ఎండుకొబ్బరి (కొప్రా) రూపంలో ఎగుమతి చేసే దిశగా మారింది.[11] ఆ ఉత్పత్తులను బియ్యం, చక్కెర, బట్టలు వంటి దిగుమతుల కోసం వ్యాపారం చేసేవారు, ఇవి వేట, సేకరణ, చేపలు పట్టడం, పందులు, కోళ్ల పెంపకం, ఇంటి తోటలపై ఆధారపడిన స్థానిక జీవనాధార ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థను భర్తీ చేయడానికి ఉపయోగపడేవి.[12]

చరిత్ర

ట్రింకెట్ అధికారికంగా 1869లో బ్రిటిష్ సామ్రాజ్యానికి లోబడి చేయబడింది.[3] 1947లో భారత స్వాతంత్ర్యం తరువాత ఈ ద్వీపం సార్వభౌమ భారతదేశంలో భాగమైంది.

ఇతర నికోబార్, అండమాన్ దీవుల మాదిరిగానే, 2004 హిందూ మహాసముద్ర భూకంపం వల్ల ఏర్పడిన సునామీల వల్ల ట్రింకెట్ నాశనమైంది. తక్కువ ఎత్తు, చదునైన స్థలాకృతి కలిగిన ఈ ద్వీపం శక్తివంతమైన అలలు, భూకంపం వల్ల సంభవించిన 1.5 మీ నుండి 1.75 మీ (4 అడుగుల 11 అంగుళాల నుండి 5 అడుగుల 9 అంగుళాలు) కుంగుబాటు కారణంగా తీవ్రంగా ప్రభావితమైంది,[13][14] దీని ఉపరితల వైశాల్యం 14.6 చ.కి.మీ నుండి 12.25 చ.కి.మీ కు తగ్గిపోయింది.[15] ద్వీపం విడిపోయిందన్న ప్రాథమిక నివేదికలు[16] తరువాత ఉపగ్రహ చిత్రాలు, అక్కడికక్కడే చేసిన సర్వేల ద్వారా నిర్ధారించబడ్డాయి.[13][17]

ప్రాణనష్టం

ట్రింకెట్‌లో, సునామీ కారణంగా 91 మంది మరణించారు లేదా అదృశ్యమయ్యారు,[15] ద్వీప సంఘాలు, ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థ పూర్తిగా ధ్వంసమయ్యాయి. విపత్తు జరిగిన కొద్దిసేపటికే, ద్వీపంలో మిగిలి ఉన్న జనాభా మొత్తాన్ని పొరుగు ద్వీపాలకు, ప్రధానంగా నాన్‌కౌరీ,[18] కమోర్టాకు తరలించారు, ఇక్కడ భారత ప్రభుత్వం వికాస్ నగర్ అనే పునరావాస గ్రామాన్ని నిర్మించింది.[9]

జనాభా పునరుద్ధరణ

2012 చివరి నాటికి, తిరిగి వచ్చిన ఇద్దరు వ్యక్తులు మాత్రమే ఈ ద్వీపంలో శాశ్వతంగా నివసిస్తున్నట్లు నివేదించబడింది.[9] 2017 నాటికి మరికొందరు శరణార్థులు తిరిగి వచ్చారు,[19] 2020 నాటికి వీరు మొత్తం ఏడు కుటుంబాలకు చేరుకున్నారు.[10]
