వివిధ ఇంధనాల దహనం వల్ల కార్బన్ డయాక్సైడ్ వాయువు వాతావరణంలోకి వెలువడుతుంది. దీనినే కార్బన్ డయాక్సైడ్ ఎమిషన్ అంటారు. వాతావరణంలో సమతుల్యత దెబ్బ తినడానికీ, భూగోళం ఉష్ణోగ్రత పెరగడానికీ, ఓజోన్ కవచం క్షీణించడానికీ ఇది ముఖ్యమైన కారణం. వివిధ దేశాల కార్బన్ డయాక్సైడ్ ఎమిషన్ వివరాలు(List of countries by carbon dioxide emissions) ఈ జాబితాలో ఉన్నాయి. అయితే కార్బన్ డయాక్సైడ్ ఎమిషన్ అనేది ఒక విధంగా ఆయా దేశాల పారిశ్రామిక ప్రగతిని కూడా సూచిస్తుంది.

ఈ వివరాలు 2003లో ఐక్య రాజ్య సమితి గణాంక విభాగం సేకరించిన సమాచారం ప్రకారం కూర్చబడ్డాయి. ఇటీవలి కాలంలో ఆసియా దేశాల త్వరిత గతి పారిశ్రామికీకరణ కారణంగా ఈ వివరాలు గణనీయంగా మారే అవకాశాలున్నాయి. ఇంతకు క్రితం అమెరికా సంయుక్త రాష్ట్రాలు ప్రపంచంలో కార్బన్ డయాక్సైడ్ ఎమిషన్‌లలో అగ్రస్థానంలో ఉండేది.[1] అయితే నెదర్లాండ్స్ వాతావరణ శాఖ ప్రాథమిక అంచనాల ప్రకారం 2006 తరువాత కార్బన్ డయాక్సైడ్ ఎమిషన్‌లకు ప్రధాన స్థానం చైనా అవుతున్నది.[2][3]
