దోయాబా, దీనిని బిస్త్ దోయాబ్ లేదా జలంధర్ దోయాబ్ అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు,[1][2] ఇది భారతదేశంలోని పంజాబ్ రాష్ట్రంలో బియాస్ నది, సట్లెజ్ నదిల మధ్య ఉన్న ప్రాంతం.[3] ఈ ప్రాంత ప్రజలను దోయాబియా అని పిలుస్తారు. దోయాబా ప్రాంతంలో మాట్లాడే పంజాబీ మాండలికాన్ని దోయాబీ అంటారు.

“దోయాబా” లేదా “దోయాబ్” అనే పదం పర్షియన్ భాషలోని دو آب (దో ఆబ్) నుండి ఉద్భవించింది. దాని అర్థం “రెండు జల ప్రవాహాలు” లేదా “రెండు నీటి ప్రవాహాల మధ్య ప్రాంతం”. రెండు నదుల మధ్య ఉండి, అవి కలిసే ప్రాంతాన్ని ఈ పదంతో సూచిస్తారు.[4] సట్లెజ్ నది దోయాబాను దక్షిణాన ఉన్న మాల్వా ప్రాంతం నుండి వేరు చేస్తుంది. బియాస్ నది దోయాబాను ఉత్తరాన ఉన్న మాఝా ప్రాంతం నుండి వేరు చేస్తుంది. మాఝా ప్రాంతం ప్రస్తుత పాకిస్తాన్, భారతదేశాల మధ్య విభజించబడి ఉంది. దోయాబా ప్రాంత జనాభాలో షెడ్యూల్డ్ కులాలు 40 శాతానికి పైగా ఉన్నారు. దోయాబా ప్రజలలో గణనీయమైన శాతం విదేశాలకు వలస వెళ్లిన కారణంగా ఈ ప్రాంతాన్ని “పంజాబ్ యొక్క ఎన్‌ఆర్‌ఐ కేంద్రం” అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు.[5]

మంజ్కీ ప్రాంతంలో నకోదర్ తహసీల్‌లోని పెద్ద భాగం, గొరాయా ఉప తహసీల్ పశ్చిమ ప్రాంతాలు, నూర్మహల్ ఉప తహసీల్, ఫిల్లౌర్ తహసీల్ పశ్చిమ ప్రాంతాలు ఉన్నాయి.[6] జండియాలా మంజ్కీ, బుండాలా గ్రామాలు మంజ్కీ ప్రాంతంలో ఉన్నాయి. ఫగ్వారా దక్షిణ-తూర్పు ప్రాంతం కూడా మంజ్కీ పరిధిలోకి వస్తుంది.[7] ఈ ప్రాంతానికి “మంజ్” తెగ పేరు మూలమా, లేక భూభాగ పరిస్థితులతో సంబంధమా అన్నది స్పష్టంగా తెలియదు.[6] మంజ్ రాజ్‌పుత్రులు జలంధర్ జిల్లాకు దక్షిణ-పశ్చిమ భాగంలో, తల్వాన్, నకోదర్, మల్సియన్ (నకోదర్ నగరానికి పశ్చిమాన) మధ్య విస్తరించిన ప్రాంతాన్ని పాలించారు.[6] అరైన్ సమాజం ప్రధానంగా ఫగ్వారా, నకోదర్, కోట్లా నిహాంగ్, దౌలత్పూర్, నూర్‌పూర్ ప్రాంతాల్లో నివసించేది. ఈ ప్రాంతంలో పెద్ద వ్యవసాయ భూములకు వారు భూస్వాములుగా ఉన్నారు.[8]

భారత విభజన అనంతరం జలంధర్ ప్రాంతంలోని దాదాపు మొత్తం అరైన్ జనాభా ఫైసలాబాద్ (పూర్వపు లయల్పూర్), బహావల్పూర్, రావల్పిండి, లాహోర్ జిల్లాలకు వలస వెళ్లింది.[9] ఈ ప్రాంతంలో ప్రధాన మతాలు హిందూమతం, సిక్కు మతం. భారత విభజనకు ముందు ఈ ప్రాంతంలో గణనీయమైన ముస్లిం జనాభా ఉండేది. అందువల్ల జలంధర్ విభాగాన్ని పాకిస్తాన్‌కు కేటాయిస్తారని ముస్లిం లీగ్ ఆశించింది.[10] విభజన తరువాత ఈ ప్రాంతంలోని ముస్లింలలో ఎక్కువ మంది ఫైసలాబాద్ (పూర్వపు లయల్పూర్) జిల్లాకు వలస వెళ్లారు.[11] చిన్న సంఖ్యలో ఉన్న కొంతమంది ముస్లింలు లాహోర్, రావల్పిండి నగరాలను ఎంచుకున్నారు. అదే సమయంలో లయల్పూర్ జిల్లాకు చెందిన కొంతమంది సిక్కులు, హిందువులు దోయాబా ప్రాంతానికి, ముఖ్యంగా మంజ్కీ ప్రాంతానికి పునరావాసం చేయబడ్డారు.[12]

ధాక్

ధాక్‌గా పిలువబడే ప్రాంతంలో ఫిల్లౌర్ తహసీల్ తూర్పు భాగం, నవాంశహర్ జిల్లా ఉన్నాయి.[6] గ్రాండ్ ట్రంక్ రహదారి ధాక్ ప్రాంతాన్ని మంజ్కీ ప్రాంతం నుండి వేరు చేస్తుంది. ఫగ్వారా తహసీల్ మధ్యభాగం ధాక్ ప్రాంతంలోకి వస్తుంది.[7] ఫగ్వారా తహసీల్‌లో ధాక్ ప్రాంతం భాగంగా ఉంది. ఇక్కడి నేల సంప్రదాయంగా మట్టి-లోయం లేదా లోమి మట్టితో కూడి ఉండటం వల్ల ప్రధాన పంటల చక్రాలు మొక్కజొన్న-గోధుమ, వరి-గోధుమ, చెరకు-గోధుమ, పశుగ్రాసం-గోధుమలుగా ఉండేవి.[13]

దోనా

“దోనా” అనే పదం ఇసుక, మట్టి అనే రెండు ప్రధాన భాగాలతో ఏర్పడిన నేలను సూచిస్తుంది. ఇందులో ఇసుక ప్రాధాన్యంగా ఉంటుంది. బియాస్ నది దక్షిణాన ఉన్న ప్రాంతం దోనా పరిధిలోకి వస్తుంది. ఈ ప్రాంతం కపూర్తల జిల్లాలోని ఒక భాగంతో ఏర్పడింది.[7] దోనా ప్రాంతంలోని నేల స్వభావం కారణంగా సంప్రదాయంగా వేరుశెనగ-గోధుమ, వేరుశెనగ-పరిత్యజిత భూమి, మొక్కజొన్న-గోధుమ, పత్తి-గోధుమ, పశుగ్రాసం-గోధుమ పంటల చక్రాలు సాగు చేయబడేవి.[13]

బేట్

బియాస్ నది, బ్లాక్ బేన్ మధ్యనున్న నదీ ప్రాంతంలో ఉన్న దోయాబా భాగాన్ని “బేట్” అని పిలుస్తారు.[7] బేట్ ప్రాంతంలోని నేల మట్టి-లోయం లేదా లోమి మట్టి స్వభావం కలిగి ఉంటుంది. అందువల్ల సంప్రదాయంగా వరి-గోధుమ, మొక్కజొన్న-గోధుమ, పశుగ్రాసం-గోధుమ, టోరియా-గోధుమ పంటల చక్రాలు అనుసరించబడేవి.[13]

సిరోవాల్

ఫగ్వారా తహసీల్ ఈశాన్య భాగం సిరోవాల్ (సిర్వాల్ అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు) ప్రాంతంలో ఉంది. జలంధర్ జిల్లాలోని భోగ్‌పూర్, ఆదంపూర్ బ్లాక్‌లు కూడా సిరోవాల్ పరిధిలోకి వస్తాయి. సిరోవాల్ ప్రాంతం బేట్ ప్రాంత లక్షణాలను కలిగి ఉంటుంది. హోషియార్పూర్ జిల్లా నుండి అనేక కొండ వాగులు ప్రవహించి రావడం వల్ల ఇక్కడి నేల సంవత్సరమంతా తేమగా ఉంటుంది. ఈ ప్రవాహాల్లో కొన్నివి మట్టికణాలను తీసుకువస్తాయి. ప్రారంభంలో ఇవి సారవంతమైన మట్టిని పేరుస్తాయి, కానీ తరువాతి నిక్షేపాలు ఎక్కువగా ఇసుకతో కూడి ఉంటాయి. ఈ నీటి ప్రవాహ మార్గాల కారణంగా గట్టి మట్టి పొరలు కూడా కొన్ని చోట్ల కనిపిస్తాయి.[7]

ఈ పట్టణం ప్రాచీన భారతీయ ఇతిహాసమైన మహాభారతంలో రాజు విరాటుడు రాజధానిగా ప్రస్తావించబడింది. దీనిని గుర్తిస్తూ, నేటికీ దసూయాను విరాట్ కీ నగ్రీ అని పిలుస్తారు.[14]
