ప్రారంభ జీవితం

ఆయన పూర్తి పేరు నరేంద్ర నాథ్ మల్హోత్రా. ఆయన నటుడు పృథ్వీరాజ్ కపూర్ కు బంధువు. పృథ్వీరాజ్ తల్లి నరేంద్ర తండ్రికి అక్క. ఆయన సోదరులలో ఇద్దరు కూడా నటులు, దివంగత ప్రేమ్ నాథ్, రాజేంద్ర నాథ్.^[2] ప్రేమ్ నాథ్ నటి బినా రాయ్‌ను వివాహం చేసుకున్నాడు. నరేంద్రకు ఇద్దరు సోదరీమణులు ఉన్నారు. ఆయన అక్క కృష్ణ, రాజ్ కపూర్ భార్య. ఆయన మరో సోదరి ఉమా, నటుడు ప్రేమ్ చోప్రా భార్య.
