రక్షకులు అనగా ఆపదల నుండి రక్షించువారు. ముఖ్యంగా వివిధ ఆపదల నుండి రక్షణ కల్పించుటకు ప్రభుత్వం వీరిని నియమిస్తుంది. వివిధ ఆపదల నుండి రక్షించే వీరిని వివిధ విభాగాలుగా విభజించారు. వీరిని ఇంగ్లీషులో పోలీస్ (Police) అంటారు.
