రామకృష్ణ బజాజ్ (1923―1994) ఒక భారతీయ వ్యాపారవేత్త, స్వాతంత్ర్య సమరయోధుడు, మహాత్మా గాంధీకి సన్నిహితుడు. ఆయన తనను తాను 'మహాత్మా గాంధీ కూలీ' అని అభివర్ణించుకునేవారు. క్విట్ ఇండియా ఉద్యమంలో పాల్గొన్నందుకు ఆయన 1942 నుండి 1946 వరకు నాలుగు సంవత్సరాలు జైలులో గడిపారు.[1] ఆయన బజాజ్ గ్రూప్ ఆఫ్ ఇండస్ట్రీస్కు అధిపతిగా, జమ్నాలాల్ బజాజ్ ఫౌండేషన్,[2] జమ్నాలాల్ బజాజ్ సేవా ట్రస్ట్కు[3] ఛైర్మన్గా పనిచేశారు.
జీవిత చరిత్ర
[మార్చు]అతను 1923 సెప్టెంబర్ 22న బ్రిటిష్ ఇండియాలోని వార్ధాలో జన్మించాడు. సబర్మతి ఆశ్రమంలో కొన్ని సంవత్సరాలు గడిపిన తర్వాత, అతను వార్ధాలోని నవభారత్ విద్యాలయంలో చదువుకున్నాడు. స్వాతంత్ర్య పోరాటంలో పాల్గొనడానికి బజాజ్ తన చదువును విడిచిపెట్టాడు.[4][5][6]
18 ఏళ్ల వయసులో, అతను మహాత్మా గాంధీతో కలిసి వ్యక్తిగత సత్యాగ్రహంలో పాల్గొన్నారు. రామకృష్ణ బజాజ్ 1942 నుండి 1946 వరకు నాలుగు సంవత్సరాలు జైలులో గడిపారు. అతను నాగ్పూర్ జైలులో ఉన్నప్పుడు వినోబా భావే నుండి సంస్కృతం నేర్చుకున్నారు.[7] 1946లో, అతను ఆల్ ఇండియా స్టూడెంట్ కాంగ్రెస్ (AISC)ని, 1948లో నేషనల్ యూనియన్ ఆఫ్ స్టూడెంట్ను స్థాపించారు. అతను 1958లో యూనియన్ ఆఫ్ సోవియట్ సోషలిస్ట్ రిపబ్లిక్స్ (USSR)కు యూత్ కాంగ్రెస్ ప్రతినిధి బృందానికి, 1959లో USకు భారత యువ ప్రతినిధి బృందానికి నాయకత్వం వహించారు.[8]
రామకృష్ణ బజాజ్ 1961లో వరల్డ్ అసెంబ్లీ ఫర్ యూత్ (ఇండియా)కు ఛైర్మన్గా ఎన్నికయ్యారు. ఆయన ఇండియన్ యూత్ సెంటర్స్ ట్రస్ట్కు మేనేజింగ్ ట్రస్టీగా కూడా పనిచేశారు. ఈ ట్రస్ట్ 1968లో యువజన అభివృద్ధి సంస్థ అయిన విశ్వ యువక్ కేంద్రాన్ని స్థాపించింది. కౌన్సిల్ ఫర్ ఫెయిర్ బిజినెస్ ప్రాక్టీసెస్, అడ్వర్టైజింగ్ స్టాండర్డ్స్ కౌన్సిల్ ఆఫ్ ఇండియా (ASCI) వ్యవస్థాపకులలో బజాజ్ ఒకరు. కుటుంబం తరపున, ఆయన జమ్నాలాల్ బజాజ్ ఫౌండేషన్ అనే ఒక స్వచ్ఛంద ట్రస్ట్ను స్థాపించారు, తన జీవితకాలంలో ఆయన ఇందులో పాలుపంచుకున్నారు. బజాజ్ ఇండియన్ ఛాంబర్స్ ఆఫ్ కామర్స్ అండ్ ఇండస్ట్రీ (FICCI), ఇండియన్ మర్చంట్స్ ఛాంబర్ (IMC), మహారాష్ట్ర ఛాంబర్ ఆఫ్ కామర్స్ (MCC)లకు అధ్యక్షుడిగా కూడా పనిచేశారు.[3][9][10]
వ్యాపారం
[మార్చు]1952లో, బజాజ్ తన కుటుంబ వ్యాపారంలో డైరెక్టర్గా చేరారు. ఆయన 1970 నుండి 1980 వరకు బజాజ్ ఎలక్ట్రికల్స్ ఎండిగా పనిచేశారు. 1991లో, ఆయన బజాజ్ గ్రూప్ ఛైర్మన్గా నియమితులై, 1994లో తన మరణం వరకు ఆ పదవిలో కొనసాగారు.

మరణం
[మార్చు]1994 సెప్టెంబర్ 21న, 71 సంవత్సరాల వయస్సులో, అతను బొంబాయి ఆసుపత్రిలో క్యాన్సర్తో మరణించాడు. అతనికి భార్య, ఇద్దరు కుమారులు ఉన్నారు.[11]
వారసత్వం
[మార్చు]1996లో, ఇండియన్ మర్చంట్స్ ఛాంబర్, మాల్కం బాల్డ్రిడ్జ్ నేషనల్ క్వాలిటీ అవార్డు (MBNQA)కు భారతీయ సమానమైన రామకృష్ణ బజాజ్ నేషనల్ క్వాలిటీ అవార్డును స్థాపించింది. ఈ అవార్డుకు రామకృష్ణ బజాజ్ పేరు పెట్టారు.[12] భారతీయ పాత్రికేయుడు, ఎం.వి. కామత్, 1995లో 'గాంధీస్ కూలీ: లైఫ్ & టైమ్స్ ఆఫ్ రామకృష్ణ బజాజ్' అనే పేరుతో బజాజ్ జీవిత చరిత్రను రచించారు.[9] వార్ధాలోని రామకృష్ణ బజాజ్ కాలేజ్ ఆఫ్ అగ్రికల్చర్, ముంబైలోని రామకృష్ణ బజాజ్ సంస్కృత భవన్ వంటి అనేక విద్యా సంస్థలకు రామకృష్ణ బజాజ్ పేరు పెట్టారు.[13]

Ramkrishna Bajaj who was also in Nagpur jail, tells me how Vinoba found time to teach him Sanskrit. The study of Sans- krit was started with the abridged Valmiki Ramayana. Vinoba does not believe in the grammar-method of studying languages; he likes his students to plunge directly into a well-known classic and dive deep into its treasures. Ramkrishna, therefore, fully enjoyed his study and picked up a good knowledge of Sanskrit within a few months. Vinoba used to recite the shlokas so loudly that the whole barrack resounded with his voice. At the evening prayers, Vinoba spoke softly and in a low voice. The fellow-prisoners, therefore, used to taunt Ramkrishna that Vinoba was not able to speak loudly after the evening prayers because all his energies were almost completely exhausted in teaching him Ramayana during the day.
