డోగ్రీ (डोगरी or ڈوگری ), అన్నది భారత దేశం, పాకిస్తాన్ లలో 50 లక్షల మంది వరకు మాట్లాడే ఇండో-ఆర్యన్ భాష.[1] ఈ భాషను ప్రధానంగా జమ్మూ కాశ్మీరులోని జమ్ము, హిమాచల్ ప్రదేశ్ లో ఎక్కువగానూ, ఉత్తర పంజాబ్, జమ్ము కాశ్మీర్ లోని ఇతర ప్రాంతాలు, తదితర ప్రాంతాల్లోనూ మాట్లాడతారు.[2] Dogri speakers are called Dogras, and the Dogri-speaking region is called Duggar.[3] Although formerly treated as a Punjabi dialect, Dogri is now considered to be a member of the Western Pahari group of languages.[4] The language is referred to as Pahari (पहाड़ी or پہاڑی) in Pakistan.[ఆధారం చూపాలి] Unusually for an Indo-European language, Dogri is tonal,[5] a trait it shares with other Western Pahari languages and Punjabi.
Dogri has several varieties, all with greater than 80% lexical similarity (within Jammu and Kashmir).[6] Before gaining language status, per the Census of India, Dogri was classified as one of the many varieties of Punjabi, such as Majhi or Doabi.[7]
