Corals are marine organisms from the class [[]] and exist as small sea anemone–like polyps, typically in colonies of many identical individuals. The group includes the important reef builders that are found in tropical oceans, which secrete calcium carbonate to form a hard skeleton.

ప్రవాళం (Coral) ఒక విధమైన సముద్ర జీవులు. ఇవి ఆంథోజోవా (Anthozoa) తరగతికి చెందినవి. ఇవి జీవ సమూహాలుగా జీవిస్తాయి, కాల్షియమ్ కార్బొనేట్ ను విడుదలచేసి మహాసముద్రాలలో ప్రవాళ దీవుల్ని (Coral islands) ఏర్పాటుచేస్తాయి.
