చాణక్యుడు (సంస్కృతం: चाणक्य Cāṇakya) (c. 350-283 BC) మొదటి మౌర్య చక్రవర్తి అయిన చంద్రగుప్తుని ఆస్థానంలో ప్రధానమంత్రి[1]. కౌటిల్యుడు మరియు విష్ణుగుప్తుడు, అనే పేర్లతో కూడా చాణక్యుడిని వ్యవహరిస్తారు[2]. కొంతమంది చాణక్యుడిని గొప్ప అర్థికవేత్తగా పరిగణిస్తారు[3]. చాణక్యుడు తక్షశిల విశ్వవిద్యాలయంలో భోధించేవాడు.
పేరు
ఎక్కువమందికి చాణక్యుడనే పేరుతోనే తెలుసు. [4] కానీ ఇతడు రాసిన అర్థ శాస్త్ర గ్రంథం వలన కౌటిల్యుడు అనే పేరు కూడా సార్థకమైంది. [5]ఈ గ్రంథమంతటా రచయిత పేరు కౌటిల్యుడిగానే ఉంది. [2] కానీ ఒక్క శ్లోకం మాత్రం అతన్ని విష్ణు గుప్తుడిగా సంభోదించింది.[6]
