బృహస్పతి (Jupiter) [9]) బృహస్పతి కి ఇంకో పేరు గురుడు. బృహస్పతి దేవతలకు గురువు. సూర్యుడి నుండి 5వ గ్రహం, సౌరమండలము లో పెద్ద గ్రహం. ఇతర గ్రహాల మొత్తం బరువు కంటే దీని బరువు రెండున్నరరెట్లు ఎక్కువ. రోమన్ దేవతైన 'జుపిటర్' పేరుమీదుగా దీనికా పేరు వచ్చింది..[10] భూమ్మీదనుండి చూస్తే రాత్రివేళ ఆకాశంలో చంద్రుడు, శుక్రుడు ల తరువాత అత్యంత మెరిసే గ్రహం బృహస్పతి. కొన్ని సార్లు అంగారకుడు బృహస్పతి కన్నా ఎక్కువ మెరుస్తున్నట్లు అగుపిస్తాడు.
