నికోలాస్ కోపర్నికస్ (ఆంగ్లం Nicolaus Copernicus)(ఫిబ్రవరి 19, 1473 – మే 24, 1543) మధ్యయుగానికి చెందిన ప్రముఖ ఖగోళ శాస్త్రవేత్త. శాస్త్రీయంగా సూర్యకేంద్ర సిధ్ధాంతాన్ని నిరూపిస్తూ సిద్ధాంతీకరించాడు.

సూర్యకేంద్ర సిద్ధాంతాల నమూనాలను, సిద్ధాంతాలను, ఇతని కంటే ఎన్నో వందల ఏండ్లకు మునుపే ఆర్యభట్టు, ఒమర్ ఖయ్యాం లు, ప్రతిపాదించారు, కాని, గ్రహాల కదలికలు ఆధారముగా గ్రహాలు సూర్యుని చుట్టూ తిరుగుతున్నాయని మొట్టమొదట నిరూపించింది ఇతనే. కానీ అప్పట్లో ఎవరూ ఇతన్ని నమ్మలేదు. మత గ్రంథాలు, జ్యోతిష గ్రంథాలలో సూర్యుడే భూమి చుట్టూ తిరుగుతున్నాడని వ్రాశి ఉంది. సృష్ఠివాదులు, జ్యోతిష్యులు ఇప్పుడు కూడా కోపర్నికస్ సిధ్ధాంతాన్ని నమ్మరు.

కోపర్నికస్ కంటే కొన్ని శతాబ్దాల ముందు ఎంతోమంది భారతీయ, గ్రీకు మరియు ముస్లిం శాస్త్రవేత్తలు సూర్య కేంద్రక సిద్ధాంతాన్ని గురించి ప్రస్తావించినా ఇతని రచనల్లో సూర్య కేంద్రక సిద్ధాంతాన్ని సైద్ధాంతికంగా నిరూపించడంతో ప్రాధాన్యం సంతరించుకున్నాడు. దీంతో ఆధునిక సైన్సులో కోపర్నికస్ విప్లవం ఆరంభమైంది.
