భారతదేశంలో జనాభా ప్రకారం మెట్రోపాలిటన్ ప్రాంతాల జాబితా ఈ వ్యాసంలో ఇవ్వబడింది. భారత రాజ్యాంగంలోని 74వ సవరణ ప్రకారం మెట్రోపాలిటన్ ప్రాంతం అనగా, 10 లక్షలు లేదా అంతకంటే ఎక్కువ జనాభా ఉన్న ప్రాంతంగానీ, ఒకటి లేదా అంతకంటే ఎక్కువ జిల్లాలు కలిస్తుంది కానీ, రెండు లేదా అంతకంటే ఎక్కువ పురపాలక సంఘాలు లేదా పంచాయతీలు లేదా ఇతర పరిసర ప్రాంతాలను కలిగివున్నదిగానీ మెట్రోపాలిటన్ ప్రాంతం. గవర్నర్ చేత ప్రజా నోటిఫికేషన్ ద్వారా మెట్రోపాలిటన్ ప్రాంతంగా పేర్కొనబడుతుంది.[1][2]
