Mallu Subbareddy was born in 1908 in Panyam village. His father Mallu Thimma Reddy was a farmer and his mother Lakshmamma. Mallu Subbareddy studied up to SSLC in Nandyala SPG High School, then intermediate and degree in Anantapuram Arts College, then completed his law degree in Madras Law College and took up the profession of advocate in Nandyala. colleagues of Damodaram Sanjivaiah and Neelam sanjeeva reddy.In the year 1941 he participated in personal satyagraha against the British rule and spent three months in Bellary Central Jail and then participated in the Quit India Movement from 1942 to 1944 and served one and a half years in Vellore and Thanjavur jails. In the first assembly election after independence in 1952, Mallu Subbareddy contested as an independent candidate from Nandyala constituency as he did not get a Congress ticket. In the year 1954, the then Chief Minister Prakasam Pantulu's government held a vote to lift the ban on alcohol. The then Deputy Chief Minister Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy said that he would give the post of minister to Mallu Subbareddy as the government did not have enough majority, but Mallu Subbareddy asked him to vote in favor of the government and refused and voted against the government saying that there should be a ban on alcohol and the government fell by that one vote. Elections were again held in 1955. Again in 1962, he contested as an independent candidate from Nandyala constituency and continued as MLA till 1967.

Mallu Subba Reddy died of asthma on 6th December 1968. Mallu Subba Reddy's son Mallu Rama Chandra Reddy worked as the Chairman of Nandyala agriculture Market Committee during the year 1985. Currently, he is staying away from politics and is working as the Managing Director of Medi Seva Diagnostic Services.
