నెగోజి ఒకోంజో ఇవేలా (ఆంగ్లం: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; జననం 1954 జూన్ 13) నైజీరియన్-అమెరికన్ ఆర్థికవేత్త. 2021 మార్చి నుండి వరల్డ్ ట్రేడ్ ఆర్గనైజేషన్ డైరెక్టర్ జనరల్‌గా వ్యవహరిస్తోంది.[2] ప్రపంచ వాణిజ్య సంస్థ డైరెక్టర్ జనరల్‌గా ఆమె మొదటి మహిళ, మొదటి ఆఫ్రికన్ కావడం విశేషం.[3][4][5]

ప్రారంభ జీవితం[మార్చు]

నెగోజి ఒకోంజో ఇవేలా నైజీరియాలోని డెల్టా రాష్ట్రంలోని ఒగ్వాషి-ఉక్వులో జన్మించింది. ఆమె తండ్రి ప్రొఫెసర్ చుక్వుకా ఒకోంజో, ఒగ్వాషి-ఉక్వులోని ఒబాహై రాజ కుటుంబానికి చెందిన ఓబీ (రాజు).

క్వీన్స్ స్కూల్, ఎనుగు; సెయింట్ ఆన్స్ స్కూల్, మోలేట్, ఇబాడాన్, ఓయో స్టేట్; ఇంటర్నేషనల్ స్కూల్ ఇబాడాన్ లలో నెగోజి ఒకోంజో ఇవేలా చదువుకుంది. ఆమె 1973లో హార్వర్డ్ యూనివర్శిటీలో చదువుకోవడానికి అమెరికా చేరుకుంది. 1976లో ఎకనామిక్స్‌లో పట్టభద్రురాలైంది.[12][13] ఆమె 1978లో సిటీ ప్లానింగ్‌లో మాస్టర్స్ డిగ్రీని, 1981లో మసాచుసెట్స్ ఇన్‌స్టిట్యూట్ ఆఫ్ రీజినల్ ఎకనామిక్స్ అండ్ డెవలప్‌మెంట్‌లో పీహెచ్‌డీని పొందింది. థీసిస్ క్రెడిట్ పాలసీ, గ్రామీణ ఆర్థిక మార్కెట్లు, నైజీరియా వ్యవసాయ అభివృద్ధితో సాంకేతికత.[14] అమెరికన్ అసోసియేషన్ ఆఫ్ యూనివర్శిటీ ఉమెన్ నుండి ఆమె అంతర్జాతీయ ఫెలోషిప్ పొందింది. ఇది ఆమె డాక్టరల్ అధ్యయనాలకు మద్దతు ఇచ్చింది.[15]

ఆమె నైజీరియాలోని అబియా స్టేట్‌లోని ఉముహియాకు చెందిన న్యూరోసర్జన్ ఇకెంబా ఇవేలాను వివాహం చేసుకుంది. రచయిత ఉజోడిన్మా ఇవేలాతో సహా వారికి నలుగురు పిల్లలు ఉన్నారు.[16][17][18][19][20] వరల్డ్ ట్రేడ్ ఆర్గనైజేషన్ తదుపరి డైరెక్టర్ జనరల్ కావడానికి ముందు ఆమె 2019లో అమెరికా పౌరసత్వం పొందినట్లు వెల్లడైంది.[21]
