బయోలాజికల్ ఇ. లిమిటెడ్ (ఆంగ్లం: Biological E. Limited, ) (బయోఇ అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు) తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రంలోని హైదరాబాదులో ఉన్న భారతీయ బయోటెక్నాలజీ, బయోఫార్మాస్యూటికల్ కంపెనీ. ఇది వ్యాక్సిన్ ఉత్పత్తి రంగంలో తక్కువ-ధరలతో ప్రత్యేకత సంతరించుకుంది.[2]
కరోనా టీకాల తయారీ కోసం అమెరికాకు చెందిన అంతర్జాతీయ అభివృద్ధి సంస్థ (డీఎఫ్‌సీ) నుంచి 50 మిలియన్ డాలర్ల సహాయంతో కార్బెవాక్స్ టీకాను తయారుచేసారు. వీటికి 5 నుంచి 12 ఏళ్ల పిల్లలకు అత్యవసర వినియోగానికి జాతీయ ఔషధ నియంత్రణ సంస్థ (డీజీసీఐ) అనుమతి లభించింది.[3] జీనోమ్ వ్యాలీలో కూడా తన కార్యకలాపాలును ప్రారంభించింది.
చరిత్ర[మార్చు]
ఈ సంస్థను 1953లో డాక్టర్ డి.వి.కె. రాజు, జి.ఎ.ఎన్. రాజు కలిసి బయోలాజికల్ ప్రొడక్ట్స్ ప్రైవేట్ లిమిటెడ్ ప్రారంభించారు. భారతదేశంలో బయోలాజికల్ ఉత్పత్తులను తయారు చేసిన మొదటి ప్రైవేట్ రంగ సంస్థలలో ఇది ఒకటి.[4] ఇది భారతదేశంలో హెపారిన్ ఉత్పత్తిని ముందుగా చేసింది.[5]
1960వ, 70వ దశకాలలో బయోలాజికల్ ఇ దగ్గు, డైజెస్టివ్ ఎంజైమ్‌లలో సూత్రీకరణల (formulations) ను అభివృద్ధి చేసింది. యాంటీ-టెటానస్ సీరమ్‌ను తయారు చేయడం ప్రారంభించింది. క్షయ వ్యాధి (Tuberculosis) కి మందులు, అలాగే టిటి, డిటిపి వ్యాక్సిన్‌లను కూడా మొదలుపెట్టింది.[6]
బయోలాజికల్ ఇ తక్కువ-ధర వ్యాక్సిన్‌ల తయారీలో ప్రఖ్యాతిగాంచింది. ఈ కంపెనీ 2008లో దాని ప్రధాన వ్యాక్సిన్ ఉత్పత్తి అయిన పెంటావాలెంట్ (DTP Hib HepB) తయారీని ప్రారంభించింది.[6] అంతర్జాతీయ అభివృద్ధి, సహాయ సంస్థలయిన డబ్ల్యూ.హెచ్.ఒ, యునిసెఫ్, బి.ఎమ్.జి.ఎఫ్ వంటి వాటికి బయోలాజికల్ ఇ వ్యాక్సిన్‌ల ప్రధాన సరఫరాదారు.[6]
కోవిడ్-19 వ్యాక్సిన్ అభివృద్ధి[మార్చు]
కరోనా వైరస్ (COVID-19) మహమ్మారి సమయంలో వ్యాక్సిన్‌ను అభివృద్ధి చేయడానికి బేలర్ కాలేజ్ ఆఫ్ మెడిసిన్, టెక్సాస్ చిల్డ్రన్స్ హాస్పిటల్, డైనవాక్స్ టెక్నాలజీస్‌ లతో బయోలాజికల్ ఇ ఒప్పందం కుదుర్చుకుంది.[7][8] కార్బెవాక్స్[9] (Corbevax) /బయో ఇ కోవిడ్-19 వ్యాక్సిన్ 2021లో నెలకు 75 నుండి 80 మిలియన్ డోస్‌లను తయారు చేసింది. క్వాడ్ (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue) చొరవతో 2022 చివరి నాటికి ఒక బిలియన్ డోస్‌లకు ఉత్పత్తి చేరుకుంటుందని అంచనా వేసారు.[10][11] 2020 ఆగస్టులో ఈ కంపెనీ తన హైదరాబాదు ఫెసిలిటీ యూనిట్లో రెండో వ్యాక్సిన్ తయారు చేయడానికి జాన్సన్ & జాన్సన్‌తో ఒప్పందం కుదుర్చుకుంది.[12] 2021 ఫిబ్రవరిలో ఏటా 600 మిలియన్ డోస్‌ల సింగిల్-డోస్ జాన్సెన్ వ్యాక్సిన్ (Janssen COVID-19 vaccine) ను ఉత్పత్తి చేస్తామని ప్రకటించింది.[13][14]
