సర్దార్ సుర్జిత్ సింగ్ రంధ్వా ( 1951 అక్టోబరు 10 - 1984 జనవరి 6) భారతీయ హాకీ కళాకారుడు. ఆయన భారతదేశ జాతీయ హాకీ జట్టులో 1976 ఒలెంపిక్ లో పాల్గొన్నాడు..[1] అతను భారతదేశం ఫీల్డ్ హాకీ జట్టుకు ఒక ఫుల్ బ్యాక్, సారథ్యం వహించాడు.

ప్రారంభ జీవితం, విద్య[మార్చు]

ఆయన పంజాబ్ లోణి పాటాలా జో జన్మించాడు. బాటాలా లోని గురునానక్ పాఠశాలలో విద్యాభ్యాసం చేసాడు. తరువాత జలంధర్ లోని లైలాపూర్ ఖుల్సా కళాశాఅలలో చదివారు. అచట విశ్వవిద్యాలయ స్థాయి హాకి టోర్నమెంటు ద్వారా హాకీలో ప్రస్థానం ప్రారంభించాడు.[2]

వృత్తి జీవితం[మార్చు]

After finishing college he joined the Punjab Police Force for a few years. He made his debut in the second Hockey World Cup in Amsterdam in 1973. He also played for India in the Munich Olympics in 1972, the 1974 and 1978 Asian Games, the 1976 Montreal Olympics, the Asian Games in Bangkok in 1978, and the 1982 World Cup held at Bombay. He was also the part of the winning team in 1975 Hockey World Cup in Kuala Lumpur. He was included in the World Hockey XI in 1973 and the All-Star Hockey XI the next year. He was also the top scorer-both in the Esanda International hockey Tournament at Perth in Australia and the 1978 Asian Games. In his career he was able to score 4 Olympic goals. Initially he worked briefly with Indian Railways and Indian Airlines and finally with Punjab Police.[2]

సుర్జిత్ సింగ్ తన రిటైర్మెంట్ ప్రకటించిన తదుపరి 1984 లో జలంధర్ జిల్లా లోని కర్తాపూర్ దగ్గర జరిగిన కారు ప్రమాదంలో మరణించాడు. జలంధర్ లోని హాకీ స్టేడియాన్ని ఆయన జ్ఞాపకార్థం సుర్జిత్ హాకీ స్టేడియంగా నామకరణం చేసారు. 1984 లో, ఆయన మరణం తరువాత జలంధర్ లో సుర్జిత్ హాకీ సొసైటీ యేర్పాటు చేయబడింది. ప్రతీ సంవత్సరం జలంధర్ లో సుర్జిత్ మెమోరియల్ హాకీ టోర్నమెంటు నిర్వహింపబడుతున్నది.[3][4] 2012 లో పంజాబ్ ప్రభుత్వం ఈ సంస్థకు సహకారాన్నందించడానికి నిర్ణయం తీసుకొంది.[5] 1998 లో ఆయనకు మరణానంతరం అర్జున అవార్డు వచ్చింది.[6]

ఆయన భార్య చంచల్ రంధ్వా కూడాఅ అంతర్జాతీయ హాకీ క్రీడాకారిణి. అమె భారతీయ మహిళల జాతీయ హాకీ జట్టులో 1970 లో పాల్గిన్నారు.[7] ఆయన కుమారుడు సర్‌బ్రిందర్ సింగ్ రంధ్వా ప్రపంచ స్థాయి లాన్ టెన్నిస్ క్రీడాకారుడు. అతడు ప్రపంచ వ్యాప్తంగా అనేక టోర్నమెంట్లలో ఆడాడు. ఇండోనేషియాలో జరిగిన ఆసియన్ గేమ్స్ లో రన్నరప్ గా నిలిచాడు.
