స్కాలా ఒక కంప్యూటర్ ప్రోగ్రామింగ్ భాష.[6] ఇందులో ఆబ్జెక్ట్ ఓరియెంటెడ్, ఫంక్షనల్ ప్రోగ్రామింగ్ విధానంలో ప్రోగ్రాములు రాయవచ్చు. జావా మీద వచ్చిన విమర్శలకు ప్రతిగా సంక్షిప్తంగా కోడ్ రాసే విధంగా దీనిని రూపకల్పన చేశారు.
కంపైలరు స్కాలా సోర్సు కోడ్ జావా బైట్ కోడ్ లోకి తర్జుమా చేస్తుంది. అది జావా వర్చ్యువల్ మెషీన్ మీద నడుస్తుంది.
స్కేలబుల్ లాంగ్వేజ్ అనే పదం నుంచి దీనికి స్కాలా అనే పేరు వచ్చింది. మార్టిన్ ఓడెర్స్కీ దీని సృష్టికర్త.
