చైన్ అనేది పొడవుకు ప్రమాణం. దీని విలువ 66 అడుగులు, లేదా 22 గజములు, లేదా 100 లింకులు,[1][2] లేదా 4 రాడ్స్‌గా ఉపవిభజన చేయబడింది. 10 చైన్లు ఒక ఫర్లాంగ్, 80 చైన్లు ఒక మైలు కు సమానం.[2] మెట్రిక్ వ్యవస్థ ప్రకారం దీని విలువ 20.1168 మీటర్లు.[2] ఈ చైన్ పద్ధతి అనేక శతాబ్దాలుగా ఇంగ్లాండ్‌లో, మరికొన్ని దేశాలలో ఆంగ్ల విధాన ప్రభావం ద్వారా వాడబడింది. కొన్ని శతాబ్దాలుగా ఈ చైన్ పద్ధతిని బ్రిటన్, పూర్వం బ్రిటీష్ వారు పాలించిన కొన్ని ఇతర దేశాలలో ఉపయోగిస్తున్నారు.

యునైటెడ్ కింగ్‌డమ్‌లో విధానం ప్రకారం మైలుకు 80 చైన్‌లు ఉంటాయి. కానీ పంతొమ్మిదవ శతాబ్దం ఆరంభం వరకు స్కాటిష్, ఐరిష్ ఆచారం ప్రకారం 80 చైన్లు స్టాట్యూట్ మైలు కంటే ఎక్కువగా ఉండేది. అత్ఫలితంగా స్కాట్స్ చైన్ విలువ 74 అడుగులు[3], ఐరిష్ చైన్ విలువ 84 అడుగులుగా తిసుకున్నారు. ఈ పెద్ద చైన్లను 1824 ఇంపీరియల్ సిస్టం నుండి దత్తత తీసుకున్నారు. యునైటెడ్ కింగ్‌డం లో స్టాట్యూట్ చైన్ 22 గజాలలకు సమానం. అనగా 66 అడుగులు (20.117 మీ). యునైటెడ్ కింగ్‌డం లోని స్టాట్యూట్ కొలతలు "వైట్స్ అండ్ మెజర్స్ ఆక్ట్ 1885" ప్రకారం నిర్వచించబడ్డాయి. [5] ఒక లింకు అనేది చైన్ లో 100వ భాగం. అది 7.92 అంగుళాలు (20.1 సెం.మీ) కు సమానంగా ఉంటుంది.[6]
