భారతదేశం సిమెంటు ఉత్పత్తిలో ప్రపంచంలో రెండో స్థానంలో ఉంది. భారత్ సంవత్సరానికి 155 మిలియన్ టన్నుల సిమెంటున ఉత్పత్తి చేస్తుంది. దీనిలో 95% ఇక్కడే వినియోగించబదుతున్నది. కేవలం 5% మాత్రమే విదేశాలకు ఎగుమతి అవుతున్నది. డిమాండు మాత్రం సంవత్సరానికి 10% కంటే మించుతున్నది. More than 90 % of production comes from large cement plants. There are a total of 130 large and more than 350 small cement manufacturing units in the country. More than 80% of the cement-manufacturing units use modern environment friendly “dry” process.
