అనుశీలన్ సమితి 20వ శతాబ్దం మొదట్లో బెంగాల్లో స్థాపించిన ఒక భారతీయ సంస్థ. భారతదేశంలో ఆంగ్లేయుల పరిపాలనను అంతమొందించడానికి ఈ సంస్థ విప్లవ మార్గాన్ని అనుసరించడానికి నిర్ణయించుకుంది. 1902 లో బెంగాల్లో వ్యాయామ శాలల్లో కసరత్తులు చేసే పలువురు యువకుల బృందాలు కలిసి అనుశీలన్ సమితి అనే పేరుతో సంస్థగా ఏర్పడ్డాయి. ఇందులో ప్రధానంగా రెండు విభాగాలు ఉండేవి. ఢాకా అనుశీలన్ సమితి అనే విభాగానికి తూర్పు బెంగాల్ (ప్రస్తుతం బంగ్లాదేశ్) లోని ఢాకా కేంద్రమైతే, జుగాంతర్ గ్రూపు అనే విభాగానికి కలకత్తా కేంద్రంగా ఉండేది.

స్థాపించినప్పటి నుంచి 1930 లో సంస్థ మూత పడేదాకా బాంబు పేలుళ్ళు, హత్యలు, రాజకీయ హింస మొదలైన చర్యలతో బ్రిటిష్ పరిపాలనను ఎదిరుస్తూ ఉండేది. ఇది ఉనికిలో ఉన్నంతకాలం కేవలం భారతదేశంలోని ఇతర విప్లవ సంస్థలే కాక ఇతర దేశాల్లోని సంస్థలతో కూడా సంబంధాలు నెరుపుతూ ఉండేది.

19 వ శతాబ్దంలో అభివృద్ధి చెందిన మధ్యతరగతి వర్గం భారతదేశంలో జాతీయవాదం పెంపొందడానికి కారణమైంది.[1] 1885లో ఎ. ఓ. హ్యూం భారత జాతీయ కాంగ్రెస్‌ను స్థాపించడంతో రాజకీయ సరళీకరణ, స్వయంప్రతిపత్తి, సామాజిక సంస్కరణల కోసం ఇది ఒక ప్రధాన వేదిక అయింది. బెంగాల్, పంజాబ్ లలో జాతీయోద్యమం తీవ్రంగా, హింసాత్మకంగా మారింది.ఇంకా మహారాష్ట్ర, మద్రాసు, దక్షిణాదిలోని ఇతర ప్రాంతాలలో కూడా ఉద్యమాలు కనిపించాయి. మహారాష్ట్రలో ముఖ్యంగా ముంబై (గతంలో బొంబాయి), పూనా విప్లవాత్మక ఉద్యమాలకు ఆలవాలమయ్యాయి. ఈ ఉద్యమానికి బాలగంగాధర తిలక్ సైద్ధాంతికంగా మద్దతు ఇచ్చాడు.
