When used with the "Redirect category shell" (Rcat shell) template:

Template {{Redirect category shell}} may be used to add one or more rcat templates, along with their parameters and categories, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation page below.

When used by itself:

• From a related word or phrase: This is a redirect from a word (or phrase) to a page title that is related in some way. This redirect might be a good candidate for a Wiktionary link.
  • Redirects from related words are not properly redirects from alternative spellings of the same word. They are also different than redirects from subtopics or related terms or topics, since a related word is unlikely to warrant a full subtopic in the target page, or to have the possibility of ever becoming an article.

Usage

Use this Rcat template in any namespace.

• Use this redirect category (Rcat) template on redirects to a target article that is a related word or words.
• Add this Rcat to the redirect in the following manner:

#REDIRECT [[(Target page name)]] {{R from related word}}

This is in accord with instructions found at WP:REDCAT.

• The {{this is a redirect}} template may also be used to add this and other appropriate Rcats to a redirect.
• This Rcat automatically populates the Redirects from related words category.
