"పల్లవ లిపి", దక్షిణభారతదేశాన్ని పల్లవులు ఏలినకాలం, అంటే సా.శ. 6 వ శతాబ్దంలో అభివృద్ధి అయి, వాడబడిన లిపి.
ఆగ్నేయ ఆసియాకి చెందిన జావా, [1] కావి, మూన్, బర్మా, [2] ఖ్మేర్, [3] తాయ్ తాం, థాయ్[4] లావో,,[5] కొత్త తాయి లీ మొదలగు లిపులు ప్రత్యక్షంగానో, పరోక్షంగానో, పల్లవ లిపి నుండే ఉద్భవించాయి.[6]

ప్రతీ హల్లులోనూ, 'అ'కారం అంతర్లీనంగా ధ్వనిస్తుంది. రెండు హల్లుల మధ్యలో ఏ అచ్చులేకుండా పలుకవలసినపుడు, రెండవ హల్లు 'వత్తు'గా మారి, మొదటి అక్షరం క్రింద వ్రాయబడుతుంది.
