రమేష్ వెంకట శొంఠి భారతీయ వృక్ష జన్యు శాస్త్రవేత్త. ఆయన హైదరాబాదు విశ్వవిద్యాలయం నుండి లైఫ్ సైన్సెస్ లో ఎం.ఫిల్ చేసాడు. ఆయన ఉతా విశ్వవిద్యాలయం నుండి బాక్టీరియల్ జెనెటిక్స్ లో డాక్టర్ ఆఫ్ ఫిలాసఫీ చేసాడు. మాసాచుసెట్స్ ఇనిస్టిట్యూట్ ఆఫ్ టెక్నాలజీ నుండి ప్లాంట్ జెనెటిక్స్ లో పోస్టు డాక్టరల్ శిక్షణ పొందాడు. ఆయన భారతదేశంలోని హైదరాబాదు లోని సెంటర్ ఫర్ సెల్యులర్ అండ్ మాలిక్యులర్ బయాలజీ లో సీనియర్ శాస్త్రవేత్తగా పనిచేస్తున్నాడు. ఆయనకు భారతదేశంలో శాస్త్ర సాంకేతిక రంగాలలో అత్యున్నత పురస్కారమైన శాంతిస్వరూప్ భట్నాగర్ పురస్కారం 2004 లో లభించింది. ఈ పురసారం బయో సైన్స్ విభాగంలో లభించింది.
