Telugu is not supported on Classic Mac OS.

1. Download the Macintosh version of the Pothana font from here or from Mediafire
2. Either:
   1. Double-click the font and click the "Install" button. (10.3 and above), or
   2. Move the file to /Users/yourname/Library/Fonts/

You should now see correctly rendered Telugu script in most applications, notably excluding Firefox. Firefox users will have to use another browser until this bug is fixed. Safari's telugu rendering is excellent

NB: works in Firefox 3.0.8

1. For Inscript layout:
   1. Download Telugu.keylayout from here. Direct link to file provided here from alternate site for convenience.
   2. Place this file in ~/Library/Keyboard Layouts/
   3. Logout and login
   4. You should find Telugu keyboard layout in "System Preferences" -> "International" -> "Input Menu"; enable it. Also select "Show input menu in menu bar".
   5. Telugu should be available form "Input Menu" on the menu bar; select it
   6. Use Telugu in any application.
2. RTS layout:
   1. Not available.
