పియా 1969, జూన్ 9న పశ్చిమ బెంగాల్ లోని కలకత్తాలో జన్మించింది. పియా తండ్రి సుఖేన్ దాస్ సినిమా నటుడు, దర్శకుడు. పియా కమలా బాలికల పాఠశాల నుండి పాఠశాల విద్యను పూర్తిచేసి, కోల్‌కతాలోని జోగోమయా దేవి కళాశాల నుండి పట్టభద్రురాలైంది.
