బెండపూడి వెంకట సత్యనారాయణ ( జనవరి 30, 1927 - ఆగష్టు 15, 2005) భారతదేశంలోని ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ కు చెందిన ప్రముఖ చర్మవైద్యులు

కుటుంబం

ఈయన 1927 లో పశ్చిమ గోదావరి జిల్లా లోని ఏలూరులో జన్మించారు. ఈయనకు ఇద్దరు కుమారులు. వారిలో ఒకరు చర్మవైద్యులు కూడా.

విద్య

ఆయన విశాఖపట్టణం లోని "ఆంధ్ర మెడికల్ కాలేజీ"లో 1952 లో పట్టభద్రుడైనారు. ఆయన డా.పి.రంగయ్య, డా.ఎం.వి.కృష్ణమూర్తిల ద్వారా వెనెరోలజీలో డిప్లొమా పొందారు. 1955 లో ఆయన కలకత్తా స్కూల్ ఆఫ్ ట్రాఫికల్ మెడిసన్ కు డెర్మటాలజీలో నవీన పోకడలను తెలుసుకొనుటకు వెళ్లారు.

కెరీర్

1956 లో ఆంధ్రా మెడికల్ కాలేజీ లోని డెర్మటాలజీ విభాగానికి అధిపతిగా, లెక్చరర్ గా నియమింపబడ్డారు. అంతకు పూర్వం డెర్మటాలజీ, వెనెరాలజీ విభాగాలకు డా.గోవిందన్ నాయర్ అధిపతిగా యున్నారు. బెండవూడి వెంకట సత్యనారాయణ గారు భారతదేశంలో డెర్మటాలజీ-వెనెరాలజిస్టుగా అర్హత పొందిన మొదటి వ్యక్తి. ఆయన 1962 లో న్యూఢిల్లీ లోని ఆల్ ఇండియా ఇనిస్టిట్యూట్ ఆఫ్ మెడికల్ సైన్సెస్ నుండి ఎం.డి (డెర్మటాలజీ) ని పొందారు. ఆయన గురువు డా. కె.సి. కంధారి.

ఆయన ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్రంలో కూడా డెర్మటాలజీ విభాగంలో అర్హత పొందిన మొట్టమొదటి వ్యక్తి. His post in Andhra Medical College was elevated to that of Professor in 1965 and he served the Department untiringly for more than twenty years. He started post-graduate courses in dermatology, Diploma in Dermatology in 1964 and MD in Dermatology in 1967, being the second after AIIMS, New Delhi. He was formulating the syllabus and structure of Diploma in Leprology, the first of its kind in India. He was the first dermatologist to be awarded MAMS, Dermato-venereology in 1968 by the National Academy of Medical Sciences. He was a post-graduate examiner in practically all Indian universities.

During his long tenure as a Professor, the Department of Dermatology in Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam was well known for research and postgraduate teaching. The Department contributed many articles to many journals and about 25 candidates qualified for MD in Dermatology and 23 for Diploma in Dermatology.
