1954 ఫిబ్రవరి 18 న వాయవ్య భారతదేశం లోని పాటియాలా తూర్పు పంజాబ్ స్టేట్స్ యూనియన్ శాసనసభకు ఎన్నికలు జరిగాయి. సభ లోని 48 నియోజకవర్గాలలో 12 ద్విసభ్య నియోజకవర్గాలు కాగా, మిగిలిన 36 ఏకసభ్య నియోజకవర్గాలు. వీటిలో 2 ఏక సభ్య నియోజకవర్గాలను ఎస్సీలకు రిజర్వెషను చేసారు. ఎన్నికల్లో మొత్తం 279 మంది అభ్యర్థులు పోటీ చేశారు.

రాష్ట్ర పునర్వ్యవస్థీకరణ విలీనం[మార్చు]
1956 నవంబరు 1 న , రాష్ట్రాల పునర్వ్యవస్థీకరణ చట్టం, 1956 ప్రకారం పాటియాలా, ఈస్ట్ పంజాబ్ స్టేట్స్ యూనియన్‌ను పంజాబ్ రాష్ట్రంలో విలీనం చేసారు.[2]
