ఉత్తరప్రదేశ్‌లోని 425 నియోజకవర్గాలకు సభ్యులను ఎన్నుకోవడానికి 1985 ఫిబ్రవరి, మే ల్లో ఉత్తర ప్రదేశ్ శాసనసభకు దశలవారీగా ఎన్నికలు జరిగాయి. భారత జాతీయ కాంగ్రెస్ మెజారిటీ సీట్లను గెలుచుకుంది. ఉత్తరప్రదేశ్ ముఖ్యమంత్రిగా నారాయణ్ దత్ తివారీ తిరిగి ఎన్నికయ్యాడు.[2][3][4]
1980 లో మునుపటి ఎన్నికలలో ఎన్నికైన సభ్యుల ఐదేళ్ల పదవీకాలం[5] 1985 మేలో ముగియనున్నందున ఈ ఎన్నికలు జరిపారు. పార్లమెంటరీ, అసెంబ్లీ నియోజకవర్గాల డీలిమిటేషన్ ఆర్డర్, 1976 ను ఆమోదించిన తర్వాత, ఆ మేరకు ఈ ఎన్నికలలో నియోజకవర్గాలను ఏర్పరచారు. [6]
