ఉడుత (ఆంగ్లం Squirrel) ఒక రకమైన క్షీరదము.

ఇది అందమైన ఒక చిన్న ప్రాణి. చెట్ల మీద నివాస ముంటుంది. ఇది పిల్లల్ని కని పెంచు తుంది. ఉడుత కు పురాణ సంబందం కూడ వున్నదని ప్రజలలో నమ్మకమున్నది. శ్రీరామ చంద్రుడు శ్రీ లంకకు వెళ్లడానికి వారది కడుతుంటే..... ఈ ఉడుత నీళ్లలో మునిగి.... ప్రక్కనే వున్న ఇసుకలో దొర్లి తన శరీరాని కంటుకున్న ఇసుకను రాముడు కడుతున్న వారదిపై విదిలించిందట. అది చేసిన ఈ చిన్న సహాయానికి శ్రీరాముడు మెచ్చి దాని వీపుమీద ప్రేమతో నిమిరాడట. అందుకే దాని వీపుమీద మూడు సారలుంటాయి. ఎవరైనా చిన్న సహాయం చేస్తే ఉడుతా భక్తి అని మెచ్చు కుంటారు.
