బెనె ఎఫ్రాయిములు (హీబ్రూ: בני אפרים) Bnei Ephraim ("ఎఫ్రాయిం వంశీయులు"), వారు తెలుగు మాట్లాడే కారణంగా తెలుగు యూదులు అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు, వీరు ప్రధానంగా కొత్త రెడ్డి పాలెంలో నివసిస్తున్నారు. చేబ్రోలు, గుంటూరు జిల్లా, మచిలీపట్నం, కృష్ణా జిల్లా, ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్, భారతదేశం వెలుపల ఒక గ్రామం, సమీపంలో కృష్ణా నది డెల్టా.[1] వారు ఎఫ్రాయిమ్ తెగకు చెందిన వారని, పది కోల్పోయిన తెగలకు చెందిన వారని, 1980ల నుండి ఆధునిక జుడాయిజాన్ని అభ్యసించడం నేర్చుకున్నారు.[2]

బెనె ఎఫ్రాయిములు ఎఫ్రాయిము వంశం ఉందని వాదిస్తారు. ఇశ్రాయేలు నుంచి పాశ్చాత్య ఆసియాలో (అంటే ఇరాన్, అఫ్ఘానిస్థాన్, తిబత్, చీనాలలో) వేయి ఆరు వందల సంవత్సరాలు తిరుగుతూ వెళ్లి, వెయ్యేళ్ళ కంటే ముందు దక్షిణ భారతదేశంలో స్థిరపడ్డారు.[3] వాళ్ల చరిత్ర మిజోరాం, మణిపూర్లో ఉన్న బెనె మ్నాషె యూదులు చెప్పినదానివంటిది.

మధ్యయుగంలో వాళ్లు రైతులుగా పని చేసే వాళ్లు. యూదుమతాన్ని ఆచరించినా, 19వ శతాబ్దంలో వచ్చిన బ్రిటిష్ బేప్టిస్ట్ మతప్రచారకుల ప్రోత్సాహం వల్ల క్రైస్తవ మతంలోకి చేరారు.[3]

వాళ్ల నాయకుడు, ష్ముయెల్ యాకొబీ, 1980ల్లో యెరూషలేంకి వెళ్లి వాళ్లది యూదువంశమే అని నమ్మిపోయారు.[3]

1980ల నుండి, కొత్త రెడ్డి పల్లేంలో సుమారు 50 కుటుంబాలు యూదు మతం గురించి చదువుకోని, హీబ్రూ భాష నేర్చుకోని, ఒక సినగోగ్ని స్థాపించారు. యూదు పండగలన్ని చేస్తారు. తోరాహ్ గ్రంథాన్ని హీబ్రూ లో చదువుతారు. ఈ మధ్య హీబ్రూ భాష ప్రార్థనాలకి మాత్రం కాకుండా, రోజువారిలో కూడా వాడుకలోకి వచ్చింది. రబ్బీలు (యూదు మతంలో పుజారులు) ఈ సంఘానికి వచ్చి వాళ్ల సంప్రదాయాలు చూశారు. ఇశ్రాయేల్లో రబ్బనూత్ హలాఖా (యూదు మత స్మృతి) ప్రకారం వాళ్ల సంఘాన్ని ఇంక అంగీకరించలేదు.[1]
