సిక్కింలో , అది భారతదేశంతో విలీనం కావడానికి ముందు, 1953 - 1974 మధ్యకాలంలో ఎన్నికలు జరిగాయి. విలీనమయ్యాక 1979 నుండి ఎన్నికలు జరుగుతున్నాయి. శాసనసభలో మొత్తం స్థానాల సంఖ్య 32 కాగా, వాటిలో ఒక స్థానాన్ని బౌద్ధ సంఘానికి రిజర్వు చేసారు.
