అరుణా సాయిరాం ఒక భారతీయ శాస్త్రీయ గాత్ర విద్వాంసురాలు. ఈమెకు భారత ప్రభుత్వం పద్మశ్రీ పురస్కారాన్ని ప్రదానం చేసింది. ఈమె కేంద్ర సంగీత నాటక అకాడమీకి ఉపాధ్యక్షురాలిగా ఎంపికయ్యింది.[2]ఈమె లండన్‌లోని రాయల్ ఆల్బర్ట్ హాల్‌లో జరిగే "బి.బి.సి.ప్రొమ్స్"లో ప్రదర్శన ఇచ్చిన మొట్టమొదటి కర్ణాటక శాస్త్రీయ సంగీత విద్వాంసురాలు. అలాగే ఇజ్రాయేల్‌లో జరిగే "జెరూసలేం ఔద్ ఫెస్టివల్"‌లో పాల్గొన్న మొట్టమొదటి కర్ణాటక సంగీత విద్వాంసురాలు కూడా.

ఆరంభ జీవితం[మార్చు]

ఈమె 1952, అక్టోబర్ 30న ముంబైలో ఒక తమిళ సంగీత కుటుంబంలో రాజలక్ష్మి, సేతురామన్ దంపతులకు జన్మించింది. ఈమె తల్లి "అలత్తూర్ బ్రదర్స్", "తంజావూర్ శంకర్ అయ్యర్"ల శిష్యురాలు. అరుణ తన తల్లి వద్దనే ప్రాథమిక సంగీత పాఠాలు నేర్చింది.[3][4][5] ఈమె తండ్రి సేతురామన్ [6][7]మంచి సంగీత రసజ్ఞుడు. తన ఇంట్లో సంగీత,నృత్య కళాకారులకు ఆతిథ్యం ఇచ్చేవాడు. అలా ఆతిథ్యం పొందిన టి.బృంద వద్ద ఈమె "వీణ ధనమ్మాళ్" సాంప్రదాయంలో సంగీతాన్ని నేర్చింది.[8][9][10] [11][12] భారతీయ మహిళా వాణిజ్యవేత్త, పెప్సికో ముఖ్య కార్య నిర్వహణాధికారి ఇంద్రా నూయి ఈమె మేనకోడలు.[13]

ఈమె తన 8వ యేట ముంబైలో జరిగిన ఒక సంగీత పోటీలో బంగారు పతకాన్ని గెలుచుకుంది. తన 14వ యేట తొలిసారిగా పూర్తిస్థాయి కచేరీ చేసింది. 21వ యేట మద్రాసు సంగీత అకాడమీ వార్షిక ఉత్సవాలలో యంగ్ మ్యుజీషియన్ అవార్డును పొందిది.

ఈమె కర్ణాటక శాస్త్రీయ సంగీతంపై సినిమా, పాశ్చాత్య, హిందుస్తానీ సంగీతాల ప్రభావం పడింది.[14] ఈమె కర్ణాటక సంగీత సంప్రదాయాలను కొససాగిస్తూనే కచేరీల నిర్వహణలో కొత్తకొత్త పుంతలు తొక్కింది.[15]

శిక్షణ[మార్చు]

ఈమె టి.బృంద[16][9][17][18][19] వద్ద వీణ ధనమ్మాళ్ బాణీని, ఎస్.రామచంద్రన్ [20] వద్ద చిత్తూరు సుబ్రహ్మణ్యం పిళ్లై బాణీని, ఎ.ఎస్.మణి వద్ద రాగాలాపనను, టి.ఆర్.సుబ్రహ్మణ్యం[21][22][23] వద్ద రాగం, తానం, పల్లవులలో ఆశువుగా స్వరకల్పన చేసి పాడటం, కె.ఎస్.నారాయణస్వామి[24] వద్ద గమకాలను నేర్చుకుంది.

అంతే కాక ఈమె జర్మన్ కళాకారుడు యూజిన్ రాబిన్,[25] మంగళంపల్లి బాలమురళీకృష్ణ, [24] న్యూయార్క్ కళాకారుడు డేవిడ్ జోన్స్[26]ల వద్ద సలహాలు, సూచనలు పొందింది.

వృత్తి[మార్చు]

ఈమె భారత రాష్ట్రపతి సమక్షంలో రాష్ట్రపతి భవన్‌లో, ఇందిరాగాంధీ, రాజీవ్ గాంధీల స్మారక స్థలమైన వీర్‌భూమి వద్ద తన సంగీత కచేరీలు చేసింది.[27] ఈమె చెన్నైలోని మద్రాసు సంగీత అకాడమీ,[28] ముంబై లోని ది నేషనల్ సెంటర్ ఫర్ పర్ఫార్మింగ్ ఆర్ట్స్, ఢిల్లీ లోని సిరి ఫోర్ట్ ఆడిటోరియం, కోల్‌కాతాలోని సంగీత్ రీసెర్చ్ అకాడమీ[29]లతో సహా దేశంలోని అన్ని ప్రాంతాలలో తన ప్రదర్శనలను ఇచ్చింది.

ఈమె జర్మన్ మ్యూజిక్ కన్సర్వేటరీ లో విజిటింగ్ ప్రొఫెసర్‌గా పనిచేసి అక్కడ దక్షిణ భారతీయ సంగీతాన్ని బోధించింది.

ఈమె లండన్‌లోని రాయల్ ఆల్బర్ట్ హాల్‌లో జరిగే "బి.బి.సి.ప్రొమ్స్"లో ప్రదర్శన ఇచ్చింది. మొట్టమొదటి కర్ణాటక శాస్త్రీయ సంగీత విద్వాంసురాలు.[30][31]ఈమె ఆ సమ్మేళనపు 116 యేళ్ళ చరిత్రలో మొట్టమొదటి సారి కచేరీ చేసిన భారతీయ గాత్ర సంగీత విద్వాంసురాలిగా ఘనతను సాధించింది. ఈమె న్యూయార్క్‌లోని కార్నెగీ హాల్‌లో, ప్యారిస్‌లోని థియేటర్ డి లా విల్లే[32][33]మొరాకోలోని ఫెస్టివల్ ఆర్ వరల్డ్ సేక్రెడ్ మ్యూజిక్[24][34]లో తన ప్రదర్శనలు ఇచ్చింది.

ఈమె శంకర్ మహదేవన్ [35][36] ఉప్పలపు శ్రీనివాస్ [37][38][39] నీలా భగవత్, జయంతి కుమరేష్,[40] రామ్‌ సంపత్,[41] సుధా రంగనాథన్,[42] జాకిర్ హుసేన్,[43] రోనూ మజుందార్, హరిచరణ్[44] వంటి భారతీయ గాయకులతో పాటు డామినిక్ వెల్లార్డ్[45][46] మైకేల్ రీమన్[47]• Christian Bollman [47]నౌరుద్దీన్ తాహిరి,[48] జెస్సీ బానిస్టర్[49] వంటి అంతర్జాతీయ కళాకారులతో కలిసి పాడింది.

As of 2019, ఈమె 60కి పైగా రికార్డులను వెలువరించింది.[50] వాటిలో కర్ణాటక శాస్త్రీయ గీతాలు, వివిధ ఇతివృత్తాలతో పాడిన పాటలు, పాల్గొన్న కచేరీల రికార్డులు, జర్మన్, ఫ్రెంచి, మొరాకో కళాకారులతో కలసి పాల్గొన్న సంగీతం ఉన్నాయి.ఈమె లలితా సహస్ర నామాలతో "అరుణ: థౌజండ్ నేమ్స్ ఆఫ్ ద డివైన్ మదర్" అనే పేరుతో ఒక ఆల్బమ్‌ వెలువరించింది.[50]

ఈమె వివిధ ప్రాజెక్టుల క్రింద విదేశాలలోని విద్యార్థులకు సంగీతాన్ని నేర్పింది. వారిలో భారతీయ సంతతికి చెందిన వీణా వాదకుడు హరి శివనేశన్, ఫ్రెంచి గాయకుడు మార్కో హోవర్ట్ మొదలైన వారున్నారు.

ఈమె తన భర్తతో కలిసి "నాదయోగం ట్రస్ట్"ను స్థాపించింది. ఈ ట్రస్ట్ ద్వారా తిరుపతిలోని శ్రీ వెంకటేశ్వర సంగీత నృత్య కళాశాల విద్యార్థులకు ఉపకార వేతనాన్ని, వాద్య పరికరాలను అందిస్తున్నది. యువ కళాకారులకు అవకాశాలను కల్పిస్తున్నది. అంతే కాక ఈ ట్రస్టు సంగీత పాఠ్యాంశాలను, రికార్డులను భద్రపరుస్తున్నది.[26][51]

ఆమె 2022లో విడుదలైన ‘అంటే సుందరానికి’ సినిమాలో తొలిసారి తెలుగులో ఒక పాట పాడింది.[52]
