సయ్యద్ అబ్దుల్ రహీమ్ ( 1909 ఆగస్టు 17 – 1963 జూన్ 11) తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రానికి చెందిన భారతీయ ఫుట్‌బాల్ కోచ్, ఆటగాడు. 1950 నుండి 1963లో మరణించే వరకు భారత జాతీయ జట్టు మేనేజర్ గా వ్యవహరించాడు.[1][2] రహీమ్ సాబ్ అని పిలువబడిన రహీమ్ ఆధునిక భారతీయ ఫుట్‌బాల్ రూపశిల్పిగా పరిగణించబడ్డాడు.[3] వృత్తిరీత్యా ఉపాధ్యాయుడైన రహీమ్[4][5] కోచ్‌గా పనిచేసినంతకాలం భారతదేశంలో ఫుట్‌బాల్ "స్వర్ణయుగం"గా పరిగణించబడుతోంది.[6] భారత ఫుట్‌బాల్ జట్టుకు నాయకత్వం వహించిన రహీమ్ ఆసియా క్రీడలలో బంగారు పతకాలు (1951-ఢిల్లీ, 1962-జకార్తా), సమ్మర్ ఒలింపిక్స్‌లో సెమీ-ఫైనల్స్ ( 1956-మెల్‌బోర్న్) సాధించడంలో కీలకపాత్ర పోషించాడు.[7][8]

రహీమ్ 1909, ఆగస్టు 17న తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్ర రాజధాని హైదరాబాద్‌లో జన్మించారు.[9]

క్రీడారంగం[మార్చు]

తొలిరోజుల్లో ఉస్మానియా విశ్వవిద్యాలయం ఫుట్‌బాల్ జట్టుకు ప్రాతినిధ్యం వహించాడు. ఆ విశ్వవిద్యాలయం నుండి గ్రాడ్యుయేషన్ పూర్తిచేసాడు.[10][11] కాలేజీలో ప్రస్తుత-పూర్వ విద్యార్థులతో రూపొందించబడిన "ఎలెవన్ హంటర్స్" జట్టు కోసం కూడా ఆడాడు.[12]

ఉపాధ్యాయుడిగా తన వృత్తి జీవితాన్ని ప్రారంభించిన తరువాత, రహీమ్ ఆర్ట్స్ డిగ్రీ పూర్తి చేయడానికి తన పూర్వ కళాశాలకు వచ్చాడు. కాచిగూడ మిడిల్ స్కూల్, ఉర్దూ షరీఫ్ స్కూల్, దారుల్-ఉల్-ఉలూమ్ హై స్కూల్, చాదర్‌ఘాట్ హైస్కూల్‌లలో ఉపాధ్యాయుడిగా పనిచేశాడు.[12] ఫిజికల్ ఎడ్యుకేషన్‌లో డిప్లొమా పూర్తిచేసి, టీచర్‌గా పనిచేసిన చివరి రెండు స్కూల్స్‌లో స్పోర్ట్స్ యాక్టివిటీస్ బాధ్యతలు తీసుకున్నాడు.[12]

కొంతకాలం రహీమ్ ఫుట్‌బాల్ క్రీడాకారుడిగా స్థానిక లీగ్‌లో అత్యుత్తమ జట్లలో ఒకటైన ఖమర్ క్లబ్‌కు ప్రాతినిధ్యం వహించాడు.[13] మేనేజర్ అవ్వడానికిముందు డచ్ క్లబ్ కోసం కూడా ఆడాడు.[14]

1943లో రహీమ్ హైదరాబాద్ ఫుట్‌బాల్ అసోసియేషన్ కార్యదర్శిగా ఎన్నికయ్యాడు.[15] 1943 నుండి 1963 వరకు హైదరాబాద్ సిటీ పోలీస్ (ఫుట్‌బాల్ క్లబ్) కోచ్ గా పనిచేశాడు.[16][17] 1949లో సిలోన్‌లో పర్యటించిన టీమ్‌కి శిక్షణ ఇవ్వడంకోసం భారత కోచ్‌గా రహీమ్ మొదటిసారిగా నియమించబడ్డాడు.[18] రెండు సంవత్సరాల తరువాత 1951లో భారత జట్టు మొదటి ఆసియా క్రీడల్లో స్వర్ణం సాధించింది.[19]

రహీమ్ ఆధ్వర్యంలో భారత ఫుట్‌బాల్ జట్టు గొప్ప విజయాలను సాధించింది.[20] 1951, 1962లలో ఆసియా ఆటలను గెలిచి కాకుండా[21] 1956 మెల్బోర్న్ ఒలింపిక్స్ లో భారత ఫుట్ బాల్ జట్టు సెమీ ఫైనల్స్ కు కూడా చేరుకుంది.[22]

1962లో జకార్తాలో జరిగిన ఆసియా క్రీడలలో 100,000 మంది ప్రేక్షకుల ముందు ఫైనల్స్‌లో దక్షిణ కొరియాను ఓడించి భారత్ స్వర్ణం సాధించడం రహీమ్ ఆధ్వర్యంలో చివరి విజయం.[23]

వ్యూహాలు, శైలి[మార్చు]

రహీమ్ సాబ్ భారతదేశ గొప్ప కోచ్‌గా పరిగణించబడ్డాడు. అతని పదవీకాలం భారత ఫుట్‌బాల్‌లో "స్వర్ణయుగం"గా పరిగణించబడుతుంది. రహీమ్ తన కెరీర్ ప్రారంభంలో ఉపాధ్యాయుడిగా, హైదరాబాద్ సిటీ పోలీస్ (ఫుట్‌బాల్ క్లబ్) కు కోచ్‌గా పనిచేశాడు. దాంతో అతడు కఠినమైన క్రమశిక్షణ కలవాడిగా, మంచి వ్యూహకర్తగా మారాడు. 1958 వరల్డ్ కప్‌లో బ్రెజిల్ ప్రాచుర్యం పొందకముందే రహీమ్ సాబ్ భారతీయ ఫుట్‌బాల్ జట్టులో క్లాసిక్ 4-2-4 నిర్మాణాన్ని ప్రవేశపెట్టాడు.[24]

రహీమ్ కుమారుడు, సయ్యద్ షాహిద్ హకీం మాజీ ప్రొఫెషనల్ ఫుట్‌బాల్ ఆటగాడు. ఇతడు 1960 సమ్మర్ ఒలింపిక్స్ టోర్నమెంట్‌లో భారతదేశానికి ప్రాతినిధ్యం వహించాడు.[25]

క్యాన్సర్ కారణంగా ఆరు నెలలపాటు మంచం మీద పడుకున్న రహీమ్ 1963, జూన్ 11న మరణించాడు.[26][12]

వారసత్వం[మార్చు]

భారత మాజీ ఫుట్‌బాల్ ప్లేయర్ ఫార్చ్యూనాటో ఫ్రాంకో "రహీమ్ సాబ్" గురించి ఈ క్రింది విధంగా వ్యాఖ్యానించాడు;

ప్రముఖ సంస్కృతిలో[మార్చు]

రహీమ్ జీవిత చరిత్ర ఆధారంగా రూపొందిన మైదాన్ అనే సినిమా సినిమా 2022 జూన్ 15న విడుదలకానుంది. ఇందులో అజయ్ దేవగన్ మూడు ప్రధాన పాత్రల్లో నటించాడు.[28]
