గీతా ఫోగట్ (జననం 1988 డిసెంబరు 15)[1] ప్రముఖ భారతీయ మహిళా కుస్తీ క్రీడాకారిణి. 2010లో జరిగిన కామన్ వెల్త్ ఆటల్లో భారతదేశానికి మొట్టమొదటిసారి బంగారు పతకం తెచ్చిన ఏకైక క్రీడాకారిణి గీతా కావడం విశేషం. ఒలంపిక్స్ కు ఎంపికైన తొలి మహిళా కుస్తీ క్రీడాకారిణి కూడా గీతానే.[5]

వ్యక్తిగత జీవితం, కుటుంబం[మార్చు]

హర్యానాలోని భివానీ జిల్లాలో ఉన్న బలాలీ గ్రామంలో హిందూ జాట్  కుటుంబంలో జన్మించారు గీతా. ఆమె తండ్రి మహావీర్ సింగ్ ఫొగట్ మాజీ కుస్తీ క్రీడాకారుడే కాక, ఆమెకు కోచ్ కూడా.[6][7]

ఆమె చెల్లెలు బబితా కుమారి, వినేశ్ ఫోగట్ లు కూడా కామన్ వెల్త్ క్రీడల్లో బంగారు పతకాలు గెలుచుకున్నారు.[8][9]

2009 కామెన్ వెల్త్ కుస్తీ చాంపియన్ షిప్[మార్చు]

2009 డిసెంబరు 19 నుంచి 21 వరకు పంజాబ్లోని జలంధర్ లో జరిగిన కామన్ వెల్త్ కుస్తీ చాంపియన్ షిప్ లో గీతా బంగారు పతకం గెలుచుకున్నారు.[10]

2010 కామన్ వెల్త్ క్రీడలు[మార్చు]

2010లో ఢిల్లీలో జరిగిన కామన్ వెల్త్ క్రీడల్లో ఆస్ట్రేలియాకు చెందిన ఇమేలీ బెంస్టెడ్ ను ఓడించి, మహిళా కుస్తీ చాంపియన్ షిప్ విభాగంలో భారతదేశానికి మొట్టమొదటి బంగారు పతకం సాధించిన ఘనత స్వంతం చేసుకున్నారు గీతా.[11][12]
