అస్సాం రాష్ట్రం లోని 27 జిల్లాలలో ధేమోజీ జిల్లా (అస్సామీ: ধেমাজি জিলা) ఒకటి. 2001 గణాంకాలను అనుసరించి ధేమాజి జిల్లా కేంద్రంగా ఉంది. జిల్లా వైశాల్యం 3237చ.కి.మీ, జనసంఖ్య 571,944. జిల్లాలో హిందువులు 5,48,780, ముస్లిముల సంఖ్య 10,533 (1.84%), క్రైస్తవుల సంఖ్య 6,390.

పేరు వెనుక చరిత్ర[మార్చు]

అస్సాం భాషలో ధాల్ అంటే ఆహారం, ధెమాలి అంటే ఆట.

చరిత్ర[మార్చు]

జిల్లా కేంద్రం నుండి 32కి.మీ దూరంలో తాజ్ అహోం రాజుల రాజధాని హబంగ్ ఉంది. మునుపటి రాజధాని శిథిలాలు ఇప్పటికీ అక్కడ కనిపిస్తుంటాయి. ఇవి చక్కగా సంరచించబడుతున్నాయి. ఇక్కడ గుగుహా, మాతా మణిపురి థాన్, పడుమణి థాన్ విగ్రహాలు ఉన్నాయి. వీటిని అహోరాజులు నిర్మించారు. వీటిని పర్యాటకులు అధికాంగా సందర్శిస్తుంటారు. 1989 అక్టోబరు 14న ధెమోజీ పూర్తి స్థాయి జిల్లాగా అవతరుంచింది.[1]

భౌగోళికం[మార్చు]

ధెమోజీ జిల్లా వైశాల్యం 3237చ.కి.మీ.[2] జిల్లా వైశాల్యపరంగా సోలోమన్ ద్వీపానికి సమానం..[3] భారతదేశంలో సుదూరంగా ఉన్న జిల్లాలో ఇది ఒకటి. హిమాలయ పర్వతసానువులలో ఉన్న అతి చిన్న పట్టణం ఇది. ఈ జిల్లాలో బ్రహ్మపుత్ర నదితో పలు ఉపనదులు సంగమిస్తున్న కారణంగా ఇక్కడ అత్యధికంగా వరదలు సంభవిస్తుంటాయి. ధెమోజీ కేంద్రస్థానంలో ధెమోజీ మౌజా ఉంది, తరువాత సెకండరీ, సిలపథర్& సిస్సి బొర్గయోన్ వంటి వ్యాపార కూడలి ఉంది. ఈ ప్రదేశానికి సమీపంలో బొగిబిల్ ప్రాజెక్టు ఉంది.

2006 గణాంకాలను అనుసరించి పచాయితీ రాజ్ మంత్రిత్వశాఖ భారతదేశ జిల్లాలు (640) లో వెనుకబడిన 250 జిల్లాలలో ... జిల్లా ఒకటి అని గుర్తించింది [4]. బ్యాక్‌వర్డ్ రీజన్ గ్రాంటు ఫండు నుండి నిధులను అందుకుంటున్న అస్సాం రాష్ట్ర 11 జిల్లాలలో ఈ జిల్లా ఒకటి.[4]

1996లో ధెమోజీ జిల్లాలో 11 చ.కి.మీ వైశాల్యంలో " బర్డోయీబం - బీల్‌ముఖ్ - వన్యప్రాణి అభయారణ్యం ఏర్పాటు చేయబడింది.[11] ఈ జిల్లా ఈ పార్క్‌ను లఖింపూర్ జిల్లాతో పంచుకుంటుంది.
