ఉత్తర ప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్రం లోని జిల్లాలలో అలహాబాద్ జిల్లా (హిందీ:इलाहाबाद ज़िला) ఒకటి. దీనికి ప్రయాగ్‌రాజ్ జిల్లా అని కూడా అంటారు. అలహాబాద్ పట్టణం ఈ జిల్లాకు కేంద్రం. అలహాబాద్ జిల్లా అలహాబాద్ డివిజన్‌లో భాగంగా ఉంది. జిల్లా వైశాల్యం 5,482 చ.కి.మీ. జిల్లాలో 8 తాలూకాలు, 20 తహసీళ్ళు ఉన్నాయి.[1][2][3] అలహాబాద్ డివిజన్‌లో ఫతేపూర్, కౌశాంబి జిల్లాలు ఉన్నాయి. జిల్లా లోని పశ్చిమ భూభాగం కొత్తగా రూపొందించబడిన కౌశాంబి జిల్లాలో చేర్చారు.[4] జిల్లాలో ఫూల్పూర్, కొరయోన్, మేజా తాలూకా, సాదర్ (అలహాబాద్), సరయాన్, హండియా, బారా (అలహాబాద్), కర్చానా డివిజన్లు ఉన్నాయి. అలహాబాదులో గంగ, యమున, సరస్వతి (అంతర్వాహినిగా) నదులు సంగమిస్తున్నాయి. దీనిని త్రివేణి సంగమం అంటారు. స్వాతంత్ర్యం రాకముందు అలహాబాద్, యునైటెడ్ ప్రావిన్సులకు రాజధానిగా ఉండేది.

జిల్లాలో హిందీ వ్యావహారిక భాషలలో ఒకటైన అవధి భాష వాడుకలో ఉంది. ఇది అవధి ప్రాంతం లోని 3.8 కోట్ల ప్రజలకు వాడుక భాషగా ఉంది.[9] అలాగే 72-91% హిందీ భాషను పోలి ఉండే బగేలి భాష కూడా వాడుకలో ఉంది.[10][11] ఇది 78,00,000 మంది ప్రజలకు వాడుకలో ఉంది..[10]

అలహాబాద్ హిందువులకు, బౌద్ధులకు పవిత్ర ప్రదేశం. అలహాబాద్‌ను ప్రయాగ అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు. ఇక్కడ గంగా, యమునా, సరస్వతి నదులు సంగమిస్తున్నాయి. దీనిని త్రివేణి సంగమం అంటారు. అలహాబాద్‌లో సంగం అతి ప్రాధాన్యత కలిగిన ప్రదేశం. 2011 గణాంకాల ప్రకారం జిల్లాలో 86.81% హిందువులు, 12.72% ముస్లిములు, 0.18% క్రైస్తవులు, 0.13% సిక్కులు ఉన్నారు.[12] మిగిలిన వారిలో బౌద్ధులు, 0.4% ఏమతానికి చెందని వారు ఉన్నారు.[13]
