జయంతి చూటియా భారతీయ భౌతిక శాస్త్రవేత్త. ఆమె ఈశాన్య భారతదేశంలో మొట్టమొదటి ప్రధాన పరిశోధనా సంస్థ అయిన అస్సాంలోని గౌహతి లోని ఇనిస్టిట్యూట్ ఆఫ్ అడ్వాన్స్‌డ్ స్టడీ ఇన్ సైన్స్ అండ్ టెక్నాలజీ డైరెక్టర్ అయినప్పుడు భారతదేశంలో శాస్త్రీయ సంస్థలకు నాయకత్వం వహించిన మొదటి మహిళలలో ఆమె ఒకరు..[1][2] ఆమె నేషనల్ అకాడమీ ఆఫ్ సైన్సెస్ లో ఫెలోగా ఉన్నది. ఆమె భారత ప్రభుత్వ సైన్స్ అండ్ టెక్నాలజీ విభాగంలో ఎమెరిటస్ సైంటిస్ట్..[3][4][5][6]

జీవిత విశేషాలు[మార్చు]

తన పాఠశాలలో ప్రధాన విషయంగా గణితాన్ని తీసుకున్న మొదటి అమ్మాయిలలో చుటియా ఒకరు.[7] తరువాత ఆమె అస్సాంలోని కాటన్ కాలేజీలో భౌతికశాస్త్రం అభ్యసించింది, అక్కడ ఆమె 1967 లో బీఎస్సీ డిగ్రీని పొందింది. 1969 లో దిబ్రూగర్ విశ్వవిద్యాలయంలో భౌతికశాస్త్రంలో ఎంఎస్సీ పొందే ముందు ఆమె కాటన్ కాలేజీలో బోధన కొనసాగించింది. దీని తరువాత చుటియా కొంతకాలం లెక్చరర్‌గా బోధించింది. దిబ్రుగర్గ్ విశ్వవిద్యాలయంలో పీహెచ్‌డీ చేయడం ద్వారా పరిశోధన కొనసాగించడానికి ఆమె చివరికి నిర్ణయించుకుంది. ఆమె పరిశోధన సన్నని పాలిమర్ చిత్రాల ప్రసరణ విధానంపై దృష్టి పెట్టింది. ఆమెకు 1981 లో డిగ్రీ లభించింది.[8]

టోక్యోలోని ఇనిస్టిట్యూట్ ఆఫ్ స్పేస్ అండ్ ఆస్ట్రోనాటికల్ సైన్స్ ప్లాస్మా లాబొరేటరీలో పనిచేయడానికి 1988 లో జపాన్ ప్రభుత్వం ఇచ్చిన ఫెలోషిప్ పూర్తి చేసిన తరువాత, 2005 లో ఆమె ఇనిస్టిట్యూట్ ఆఫ్ అడ్వాన్స్‌డ్ స్టడీ ఇన్ సైన్స్ అండ్ టెక్నాలజీ డైరెక్టర్ అయింది.[7][9][10][11][12][13]
